Foreign hackers compromised Russian federal agencies in a digital espionage campaign that Russian officials described as unprecedented in scope and sophistication.
Russia said on Wednesday it was slowing down the speed of Twitter in retaliation for what it described as a failure to remove banned content, threatening to block the U.S. platform outright if it did not comply with its deletion demands.
Russian telecoms operator Rostelecom said that disruptions to several government websites including that of the Kremlin and parliament were not caused by new restrictions imposed on Twitter, the TASS news agency reported.
