Name Description

Geoff Beattie

Mr. Geoff Beattie is Independent Chairman of the Board of the company. He is Chief Executive Officer of Generation Capital and Chair of Relay Ventures. Geoff is a director of the General Electric Company, Royal Bank of Canada, Maple Leaf Foods and DBRS Inc. In addition to his board memberships, he is a trustee of the University Health Network in Toronto. Geoff served as Chief Executive Officer of The Woodbridge Company Limited from 1998 through 2012. Prior to that, Geoff was a partner in the Toronto office of the law firm Torys LLP and was a vice-president at Wood Gundy from 1987 to 1990. The Woodbridge Company Limited is a privately held investment holding company for the Thomson family of Canada and the majority shareholder of Thomson Reuters (formerly Thomson Corporation), where Geoff served as Deputy Chair. Geoff received a law degree from the University of Western Ontario in 1984. As Chief Executive Officer of Woodbridge, Geoff was responsible for overall strategic planning including investment and capital allocation decisions, and shaping of the Thomson Corporation. During Geoff’s tenure as Chief Executive Officer of Woodbridge, he played a key role in the combination of CTV Inc. with The Globe and Mail to create CTV globemedia Inc. and oversaw Woodbridge’s investment in the combined entity. Geoff also navigated Thomson through a period of transformation as the information industry made the difficult structural shift from print to digital. Executing on Thomson’s strategy to become the leading global e-information and solutions provider to professional markets, transactions totalling more than US$40 billion were consummated during his tenure. Of note, Geoff played an integral role in Thomson’s acquisition of Reuters Group PLC in 2008 for US$17 billion to form Thomson Reuters.

Michael Murphy

Mr. Michael Murphy is Chief Financial Officer of the Company. Michael is an experienced chartered accountant and a graduate from the University of Western Ontario.

Alexander Singh

Mr. Alexander Singh is Secretary of the company. He is the Partner, Managing Director, General Counsel and Secretary of Acasta. Alex provides leadership across the full portfolio, with a special focus on fund formation, co-investment deals and transaction structuring. Alex was previously General Counsel and Secretary to West Face Capital Inc., one of Canada’s most prominent alternative asset managers. He was a member of the senior executive team, where he was actively involved in transactions, fund formation, compliance and regulatory matters, and operations. While Alex was at West Face, assets under management grew to $3 billion and from 12 to 38 employees. He was chosen as “Tomorrow’s Leader” at the Canadian General Counsel Awards in 2013. Alex previously practiced corporate (including mergers and acquisitions) and securities law at Borden Ladner Gervais LLP. During Alex’s time with West Face, his transactional experience was focused on both private and public market event-driven investing. With respect to transaction experience, he was heavily involved from idea to execution in both public and private equity and debt transactions, especially regarding legal and tax structuring, and specializing in natural resources, asset-heavy manufacturing, telecom and media and consumer product fields. Alex was heavily involved in all of West Face’s proactive and activist investment campaigns, and was frequently asked to speak on the topic of activist investing in Canada.

Anthony Melman

Dr. Anthony Ronald Melman is Director of the company. He was Chief Executive Officer of the Company. He is Partner, President and Chief Executive Officer of Acasta. Tony provides leadership across all of Acasta’s businesses. He was previously a partner and Managing Director of Onex Corporation where he spent 22 years, having joined in 1984. Tony led or was involved in many of the major acquisitions that Onex undertook in that time period, and most of those investments created substantial value for Onex shareholders. Tony also played a key role in structuring Onex’s bids for Labatt Breweries and Air Canada, and arranging substantial and innovative related financings. Prior to Onex, Tony was head of global project and acquisition financing at Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce. Tony currently serves as a Director and Chair of the Finance Committee of CP Rail, having joined with Bill Ackman/Pershing Square and the ‘Directors for Change’. Tony is also the Executive Chair of Baycrest Global Solutions. He was previously on the Board of the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation and Celestica Inc. Tony played a leading role in some of the Onex team’s most successful deals. In Onex’s pivotal and highly successful acquisition of Celestica, third-party deal participants noted that the deal had been orchestrated by Tony. “Celestica was Anthony Melman,” said Doug Brent, former head of BT Capital Partners, which helped finance the deal, to the Globe and Mail.
