Name Description

James Tu

Mr. James Tu is Chairman of the Board, Chief Executive Officer of the Company. President. He was Executive Chairman of the Board of the Company. He served as the non-Executive Chairman of the Board from December 2012 to April 2013. He is also the Founder, Chief Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer of 5 Elements Global Advisors, an investment advisory and management company focusing on investing in clean energy companies. Additionally, he is Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Communal International Ltd., a British Virgin Islands company dedicated to assisting clean energy solutions companies maximize their technology and product potential and gain access to global marketing, distribution licensing, manufacturing, and financing resources. Previously, he served as the Director of Investment Management of Gerstein Fisher & Associates, and an equity analyst at Dolphin Asset Management Corp. Mr. Tu received a Master’s degree in Business Administration in finance from Baruch College and a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from Tsinghua University.

Stephen Socolof

Mr. Stephen J. Socolof is Director of the Company. Mr. Socolof is a Managing Partner of Tech Council Ventures (“TCV”), a venture fund investing in early-stage growth companies in the Mid-Atlantic region and sponsored by the NJ Tech Council industry association, which has approximately 1,000 corporate and university members. He is currently on the board of Stratis IoT, SunRay Scientific, and Vydia as well as Everspin Technologies, a NASDAQ listed semiconductor and electronics technology company. He was recently a director of Airclic (sold to Descartes Systems), Alverix (sold to Beckton Dickinson & Company), Neohapsis (sold to Cisco Systems), Silicon Hive (sold to Intel Corporation), Sychip (sold to Murata Manufacturing Co.), and an observer of Flarion Technologies (sold to Qualcomm Inc.). Before his venture capital career, Mr. Socolof created and ran the venture incubator for Lucent’s Bell Laboratories for 5 years, and then formed and ran New Venture Partners for 15 years investing in commercialization of technologies spun out of corporate labs. Previously, he spent 8 years with the management-consulting firm Booz, Allen & Hamilton, where he was a leader of the practice focused on enhancing corporate innovation. Mr. Socolof has also been a leader in the corporate venture community and was Chair of the Corporate Venture Group within the National Venture Capital Association and on the Advisory Board of Global Corporate Venturing. Mr. Socolof received an MBA degree from The Amos Tuck School at Dartmouth College, where he is currently on the board of the Center for the Study of Venture Capital & Private Equity. He received degrees in Economics and Mathematical Sciences from Stanford University.

Jennifer Cheng

Ms. Jennifer Y. Cheng is Independent Director of the Company. Ms. Cheng is a co-founder and Chairwoman of Social Energy Partners LLC, which pioneered the Intelligent Building as-a-Service model to accelerate the adoption of sustainability technologies and building IoT. Ms. Cheng also served as an independent director of Energy Focus from 2012 to July 2014. Previously, she was the founder and Chairwoman of The X/Y Group, a marketing enterprise that markets and distributes global consumer brand products, including JanSport and Skechers in the greater China region. Previously, Ms. Cheng was a Marketing Director for Molten Metal Technology, a Boston-based clean energy company that developed patented technologies and offered solutions for advanced treatment and energy recycling for hazardous radioactive waste. Ms. Cheng received B.S. in Economics and International Business from Rutgers University and a Master’s degree in Business Administration with focus on Marketing and Finance.

Glenda Dorchak

Ms. Glenda M. Dorchak is the independent Director of the Company. She is an experienced public board director with extensive operating experience as a corporate executive with leading global technology companies including Intel Corporation and IBM Corporation. Ms. Dorchak has been on the board of Mellanox Technologies (NASDAQ:MLNX) since 2009. She is also an Operating Advisor to OMERS Private Equity and is on the Strategic Advisory Board for BDC Capital Industrial, Clean and Energy Technology Venture Fund. Ms. Dorchak most recently was Executive Vice President of Spansion, Inc., a company that designs, develops and manufactures flash memory microcontrollers, missed-signal and analog products, as well as system-on-chip solutions which was acquired by Cypress Semiconductors in 2014. Ms. Dorchak brings to Energy Focus expertise in scaling up entrepreneurial, technology operations across global markets, as well as a wealth of corporate governance experiences for private and public companies.

Geraldine McManus

Ms. Geraldine McManus is Independent Director of the Company. McManus has been a Managing Member of Granger Management since May 2014. Previously, she was a Managing Director in the Investment Management Division at Goldman Sachs, where she worked from February 1998 until February 2014 and helped build its Private Wealth Management business, including structuring its business model and key functions focused on ultra-high net worth individuals and family groups. Prior to joining Goldman Sachs, Ms. McManus spent six years at Merrill Lynch as a Managing Director heading the Yankee Debt Capital Markets Group, advising sovereigns, supranational and international corporations on global debt issuance and liability management. Before working at Merrill Lynch, Ms. McManus spent six years at Salomon Brothers, two years as an associate in Corporate Finance and four years as a Product Specialist in the Hedge Management/Derivatives Group. Ms. McManus received a B.S. from Cornell University and an M.B.A. from Wharton. She serves on the Board of Trustees for The Delbarton School in Morristown, New Jersey, The Caron Foundation in Wernersville, Pennsylvania and The Jane Goodall Institute.

Michael Ramelot

Mr. Michael Ramelot is a Independent Director of Energy Focus, Mr. Ramelot has been a consultant since 2002 on many projects, including serving as project leader on BlackLine system implementations to enhance the financial close process of several multi-million dollar companies; serving as project leader on due diligence, accounting valuations and appraisals related to acquisitions; researching and preparing position papers for companies on complex accounting issues; preparing various SEC filings; and assessing and implementing compliance with Section 404 of Sarbanes-Oxley at several companies. Prior to becoming a consultant, Mr. Ramelot served as the President and Chief Financial Officer and as the Chief Financial Officer of Compro Packaging LLC. Mr. Ramelot received a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Santa Clara and a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from St. Mary’s College. He is a Certified Public Accountant.
