Name Description

Peter Bartels

Hon. Peter Kwamena Essilfie Bartels has served as Non-Executive Chairman of Ghana Oil Company Limited since May 18, 2017. Peter attended Nungua Secondary School where he obtained his GCE Ordinary Level Certificate and Mfantsipim School in Cape Coast for his Advance Level Certificate. He proceeded to the University of Ghana where he graduated with an LLB (Honors) degree and hence to the Ghana School of Law for his BL degree in 1974. He was called to the Bar in 1974. He haa Post-Graduate Certificate in Personnel Administration from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration and Post-Graduate Certificate in University Administration from University of Ife in Nigeria. He entered Parliament in 1997 as a Member of Parliament for the Ablekuma North Constituency. He reelected in 2001 and 2004. He held several Ministerial positions in Ghana including: Minister of the Interior – Aug. 2007 – May 2008; Minister for Information and National Orientation – May 2006 – Aug. 2007; Minister for Private Sector Development & the President’s Special Initiative – 2002-2005; Acting Minister of Tourism – May 2002 – April 2003 · Minister of Works and Housing – February 2001. He also has the following work experience: Principal Assistant Registrar and Principal Lecturer in Law at the Anambra State Polytechnic, Oko from 1982 – 1984. Assistant Registrar in charge of Personnel and Staff Training Programs and later Students Affairs from 1974 – 1977. He also served as Secretary to Five Statutory Committees. He served as the Export/Personnel Manager and later as Corporation Secretary (Ghana Food Distribution) with additional responsibility as Public Relations Office and a part-time Lecturer in Commercial Law at the Accra Polytechnic between 1973 and 1974. Administrative Secretary at Ghana Food Distribution Corporation (Task Force) from 1971 – 1972.

Patrick Akorli

Mr. Patrick Akpe Kwame Akorli has served as Group CEO & Managing Director, Executive Director of Ghana Oil Company Limited since June 1, 2012. Prior to this, Patrick was Finance Manager of the Company from 2008 to June 1, 2012, and he served as Chief Internal Auditor of the Company between 2003 and 2008. He is Chartered Accountant by profession and Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana. He is also alumnus of the Institute of Professional Studies, Legon. He joined the Company as Assistant Accountant in 1996, and has held several positions, including Acting Chief Accountant, Treasurer and Acting Finance Manager. He previously worked with Quansah, Nyame & Co, (Chartered Accountants), and has experience with the Ghana Education Service as a trained Teacher and Senior Accountant at Mawuli School, Ho. He obtained a Masters of Business Administration degree from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration in 2006.

Erasmus Sarkwa

Mr. Erasmus Ofori Sarkwa has served as Head of Finance of Ghana Oil Company Limited since 2012. Until 2012, Erasmus served as Chief Internal Auditor of the Company. He holds an Executive Masters of Business Administration degree in Marketing and a Bachelor of Science degree in Administration and Diploma in Public Administration, all from the Business School, University of Ghana in Legon. He also has Advanced Level of CIM, Ghana, and is Member of the Chartered Institute of Accountants, Ghana. Before joining the Company, he worked in University of Ghana Legon, Plan Ghana - an NGO in Accra and Cocoa Processing Company in Takoradi, a subsidiary of CMB. He joined the Company in 1997 as Assistant Accountant and has held several positions including Accounts Controller and Zonal Manager, South.

Alex Adzew

Mr. Alex Josiah Adzew serves as Chief Operating Officer of Ghana Oil Company Limited. Alex holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. He also holds an Executive Masters of Business Administration degree from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA). He was employed by the Company as Sales Engineer in 1992, and later served as Technical & Special Products Manager. Mr. Adzew has participated in several training programs in Ghana and abroad, particularly with ENI (formerly Agip SpA), and has participated in seminars at the Harvard Business School and Manchester Business School. He worked with the Tractor & Equipment, a division of Unilever Ghana Ltd, before joining the Company.

Anthony Twumasi

Mr. Anthony Twumasi serves as Head of Research, Planning & IT of Ghana Oil Company Limited. Anthony joined the Company in 2004. He holds an Master of Science (Honors) degree in Computer Science from the Stockholms universitet. Mr. Twumasi worked with IBM Nordic Laboratories AB, Telia Research AB of Stockholm, Sweden, and later joined Ernst & Young as a Senior Manager. Whiles in Sweden he worked with IBM Nordic Laboratories AB and later with Telia Research AB of Stockholm, Sweden. He represented Telia AB, the parent company, in several joint projects which engaged the participation of major telecommunication companies in Europe. In Ghana he joined Ernst & Young, a multinational consulting firm as Senior Manager. His major assignment at Ernst & Young was working as a technical adviser to the government of Ghana and Uganda in the computerization of operations of their respective ministries. In Ethiopia, he conducted a system study at African Union aimed at computerizing some of the processes of the organization.

Ms. Nana Ama Kusi-Appouh has served as Solicitor Secretary of Ghana Oil Company Limited since March 1, 2017. She is a lawyer of 13 years standing in the Republic of Ghana. She attended Wesley Girls High School and Aburi Girls Secondary School. She went ahead to complete her tertiary education at University of Derby, Derbyshire, West Midlands, UK where she studied law degree and graduated with Second Class Upper (LLB,Hons). She did the Legal Practice Course at The College of Law, Guildford, Surrey and became a Solicitor in the England and Wales in the year 2000. She attended Ghana Law School from 2002-2004 and was called to the Ghana Bar in October 2004. With regards to her work experience, she has had rich experience both as a legal practitioner and an in house counsel. She did her pupilage at Messrs Minkah Premo & Co (October 2004- 2005) where she was assigned to the litigation department handling contentious cases. She further worked for First Atlantic Bank Limited (2006 – 2012) and Fidelity Bank Ghana Limited (2012-2016) where she advised on very complex transactions, gave general legal advice, drafted and reviewed agreements/syndicated loan agreements and acted as Secretary to the Board and various other committees. She had also acted as the Legal Business Partner for Wholesale Banking advising on indicative term sheets and negotiating contract terms to ensure that the bank’s interest was well protected. She joined Ghana Oil Company Limited in March 2016 as the Legal Affairs Manager and became Acting Solicitor Secretary in September 2016 and appointed as substantive Solicitor Secretary in January 2017. As Solicitor Secretary she is also a member of the Tender Committee and Negotiating Committee. Generally her skills include strong communication, negotiation skills, exceptional analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail. She is ambitious, thrives on challenges and relentlessly chases her goals.

Robert Amankwah

Mr. Robert Owusu Amankwah has served as Non-Executive Director of Ghana Oil Company Limited since May 18, 2017. Robert is a business executive. He holds Associate Degree in Business Administration from Essex County College of Essex University in 1980. He is the Founder and Chairman of Orabak Gh. Ltd. He has held other positions including: Chief Executive Officer – R.O.A Medical Transport Incorporation, USA – 1995 to 2000; Regional Supervisor – Maiden Lane Parking Inc. 1980 to 1995.

Rhoderline Baafour-Gyimah

Mrs. Rhoderline Baafour-Gyimah has served as Non-Executive Director of Ghana Oil Company Limited since May 18, 2017. Rhoderline attended Abuakwa State College between 1961 – 1966 where she obtained her GCE O’Level Certificate. She also obtained a Diploma in Journalism from the Ghana Institute of Journalism of University of Ghana in 1968. Mrs. Rhoderline Baafour-Gyimah has held several positions including the following: Managing Partner – Hamlex Company Limited – 2009 to date; Media Consultant to Mother and Child Community Development Foundation (NGO); Founder and Managing Director of Metro Media Consult – 1993 – 2008; Managing Director – Rhodalex Immigration Advisory Services – 1988 – 1990; Senior Reporter and Assistant Editor of the Newsreel Section of the News and Current Affairs section of GBC – 1976 1984; Information Officer – Ghana High Commission – London – 1971 – 1974. Mrs. Rhoderline Baafour-Gyimah is a member of various clubs and associations including the following: Ghana Journalist Association; Association of Women in the Media; International Women in the Media Foundation. In 2008, she was awarded “Order of the Volta for her career in Public Service.

Thomas Manu

Mr. Thomas Kofi Manu has served as Non-Executive Director of Ghana Oil Company Limited since October 16, 2008. Thomas is a Geophysicists by profession. He also holds a Masters of Business Administration degree in Finance from University of Ghana, Legon. Mr. Manu has been working with Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) since 1990, where he has been Director of Exploration and Production. He has experience in a variety of projects, including Data Acquisition and Interpretation, Prospect Generation, Appraisal and Early Development Promotion of Ghana's hydrocarbon potential. Mr. Manu has been Member of several national committees, including Technical Committee for Natural Gas, Technical Committee for Policy Formulation for the Upstream Petroleum Sector, Committee for the Review of Regulatory Framework for Petroleum Exploration and Production and Government Petroleum Agreement Negotiating Committee. He has also been Member of a number of professional associations, including the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators, American Association of Petroleum Geologists, Society of Exploration Geophysicists and Ghana Institute of Geoscientists.

Hon. Kwame Osei-Prempeh has served as Non-Executive Director of Ghana Oil Company Limited since May 18, 2017. Kwame is a Lawyer by profession. He was the Member of Parliament for the Nsuta Kwamang Beposo Constituency from January 1997 to January 2013. Hon. Beatrice Agyeman Prempeh has served as Non-Executive Director of Ghana Oil Company Limited since May 18, 2017. Beatrice is currently an Executive Director of Vintage Moulding Company Ltd. and a member of the Greater Accra Regional Disciplinary Committee. She has also worked in various capacities such as the following: Government appointed Assembly Member for the Amasaman District Assembly; Chairperson for the Mallam Area Council and Ga South Municipal Assembly. She has both local and international experience as an Administrator in Ghana and the United Kingdom having served in administrative positions at the Ministry of Education, GIHOC and Central Regional Development Corporation.

Mr. Stephen Abu Tengan has served as Non-Executive Director of Ghana Oil Company Limited since May 18, 2017. Stephen is a Chartered Accountant. He is currently working with Halliburton International Inc. Ghana as a Finance and Accounting Manager, West Africa Area. (excl Nigeria). He had previously worked at Baker Hughes Ghana Ltd. Iburst Africa, Ghana as an Accounting Supervisor and a Senior Accountant and country finance manager respectively. Mr. Beauclerc Ato Williams has served as Non-Executive Director of Ghana Oil Company Limited since May 18, 2017. Beauclerc is a business executive in the Construction and Services Sector. He has also served as Ghanaian Director of Save a Child’s Heart (GH) (SACH). He attended Mfansipim Secondary School and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Ghana.
