Biographies

Name Description

John Fahey

Mr. John M. Fahey, Jr. is Non-Executive Lead Independent Chairman of the Board of the Company. He serves as the Company’s Lead Independent Director, is the former Chairman of National Geographic Society, a non-profit scientific and educational organization, where he served until his retirement in February 2016. Prior to that, Mr. Fahey served as National Geographic Society’s Chief Executive Officer from 1998 to 2013 and as its President from 1998 to 2010. During his tenure as President and Chief Executive Officer of National Geographic Society, he led its entry into cable television, the expansion of its magazine (now published in English and 39 local-language editions) and the extension of National Geographic content into digital media. Mr. Fahey joined the National Geographic family in 1996. Prior to that, he was Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Time Life Inc., a former affiliate of Time Inc., for seven years. Earlier, Mr. Fahey worked for Home Box Office, where he was instrumental in the startup of CINEMAX, and was a circulation manager for Time magazine. In February 2014, President Obama appointed Mr. Fahey as a Member of the Smithsonian Board of Regents for a six-year term. He also serves on the boards of Johnson Outdoors Inc. and Lindblad Expeditions Holdings Inc.

Richard Battista

Mr. Richard Battista is President, Chief Executive Officer, Director of the Company. Prior to that, he served as President, People and Entertainment Weekly from April 2015 to December 2015. Before joining us, Mr. Battista served as Chief Executive Officer of Mandalay Sports Media, a sports-focused content and media company from January 2013 to March 2015. He served as President and Chief Executive Officer of LodgeNet Interactive Corp. from September 2012 through January 2013. From January 2011 to September 2012, Mr. Battista invested in digitally-focused media properties through Pontiac Digital Media, an investment vehicle that he formed. From 2008 to 2010, Mr. Battista served as President of Fox’s National Cable Networks. From 2004 to 2008, Mr. Battista served as Chief Executive Officer of Gemstar-TV Guide, a publicly-traded company that provided television program guidance and operated media properties. Earlier, Mr. Battista held leadership positions at Fox media organization over the course of 12 years.

Susana D'Emic

Ms. Susana D'Emic is Chief Financial Officer, Executive Vice President, Controller of the Company. She has served as the Senior Vice President, Controller of the Company since October 2013. Prior to that, Ms. D’Emic was with Frontier Communications, a NASDAQ-traded company and the largest provider of phone, internet and video services to rural towns and cities across the country, where she served as Senior Vice President, Controller and Chief Accounting Officer from April 2011 until October 2013. Ms. D’Emic served as Senior Vice President, Controller and Chief Accounting Officer at Trusted Media Brands (formerly Reader’s Digest) where she served in a number of finance roles from January 1998 until April 2011. Before joining Reader’s Digest, she held various positions with Kraft Foods Corp., Colgate Palmolive Company and was an audit manager with KPMG (then KPMG Peat Marwick). Ms. D’Emic is a Certified Public Accountant.

Jennifer Wong

Ms. Jennifer Wong serves as Chief Operating Officer, Executive Vice President of the Company. Previously, she was Executive Vice President, President of Digital from January 2016 to September 2016. Prior to that, Ms. Wong served as Chief Business Officer of PopSugar Media, Inc. from 2011 to 2015, where she led business operations, business development, and growth strategy across all content and commerce platforms. From 2010 to 2011, Ms. Wong served as Senior Vice President/General Manager for AOL Media Lifestyle at AOL Inc., as well as global head of business operations and head of operations for AOL Media. Prior to that, she served as Senior Vice President and General Manager of Premium Network Display Products at AOL, where she led the development and go-to-market strategies for the company’s premium network display products. Previously she held management roles at The Huffington Post Media Group and AOL Advertising. Ms. Wong’s earlier experience includes a role as Associate Partner, Media and Entertainment Practice for McKinsey & Company.

Gregory Giangrande

Mr. Gregory Giangrande is Executive Vice President, Chief Human Resources and Communications Officer of the company. previously, Mr. Giangrande served as Executive Vice President of Human Resources from April 2012 to October 2016. Prior to that, Mr. Giangrande served as Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer for Dow Jones & Company/The Wall Street Journal beginning in February 2008. From 1999 to 2008, Mr. Giangrande served as Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer at HarperCollins publishing group. Earlier, Mr. Giangrande held leadership positions in human resources at Hearst Corporation, Condé Nast and Random House LLC.

Lauren Klein

Ms. Lauren Ezrol Klein is Executive Vice President, General Counsel, Corporate Secretary of the Company. She joined the Company in 1996 and has been practicing law for 25 years, beginning her career as an associate at the New York law firm Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP.

Leslie Doty

Ms. Leslie Dukker Doty is Executive Vice President - Consumer Marketing and Revenue of the Company. Prior to joining the Company, she was Chief Marketing Officer of Trusted Media Brands (formerly Reader’s Digest) from 2013 to 2015 and, from 2012 to 2013, served as Corporate Vice President, Member Engagement at CVS Health, a Fortune 7 health and retail business. Ms. Doty also served as Managing Partner, Marketing Strategy and Brand Loyalty at DiMassimo Goldstein, a brand advertising agency, from 2010 to 2012 and earlier, she held various senior marketing leadership positions in the financial services and payments industry at Mastercard Worldwide, SunTrust Bank and Citibank.

Brad Elders

Mr. Brad Elders serves as Executive Vice President, Chief Revenue Officer of the Company. He began his media sales career at Sports Illustrated in 1994 and re-joined the Company in April 2016 as Group Publisher of Sports Illustrated Group before becoming President of Digital Sales in July 2016. He previously was at AOL from October 2010 to July 2011 and again from May 2012 to December 2015, where he was Senior Vice President of Sales. Throughout his career, Mr. Elders has held senior positions at various media companies and start-ups, including Yahoo!, MTV, Live Nation, Videology and Joost.

Mark Ford

Mr. Mark Ford is Executive Vice President - Senior Strategic Sales Advisor of the Company. He was Executive Vice President, Global Advertising of the company. prior to that, Mr. Ford served as Executive Vice President and Group President of our Sports Group from January 2011, having previously served as President of the Time Inc. News & Sports Group (which included Time, Fortune, CNNMoney, Money, Sports Illustrated, Golf and SI Kids) and as President of Sports Illustrated. Mr. Ford joined Time Inc. in 1985 as a divisional sales manager for Time and has since served in a number of executive roles, including President of Time4 Media (a network of 17 enthusiast magazines later sold to Bonnier) and as a key member of the Entertainment Weekly launch team.

Erik Moreno

Mr. Erik Moreno is Executive Vice President, President - Corporate Development, New Ventures and Investments of the Company. previously, Mr. Moreno was Executive Vice President of Business Development from September 2015 to October 2016. Prior to that, Mr. Moreno served as Senior Vice President of Corporate Development for Fox Networks Group, a unit of 21st Century Fox, from 2008 to 2015. During his tenure at Fox, he also served as co-General Manager of Mobile Content Venture from 2011 to 2015 and led 21st Century Fox’s efforts relating to the FCC’s spectrum auction and other digital initiatives. Previously, he served as Director of Corporate Development for eBay Inc. from 2006 to 2008 and was Vice President of Corporate Development and Strategy for Level 3 Communications Ltd., a global wholesale telecommunications company, from 2000 to 2006. Mr. Moreno began his career at Gleacher & Co., a boutique investment bank specializing in mergers and acquisitions.

Galiya Tleuova

Ms. Galiya Tleuova serves as Senior Vice President, Controller of the Company. She has twenty years of experience in accounting, finance and business development in the United States, Europe and Asia. Prior to her appointment with Time Inc., Ms. Tleuova was with Deloitte & Touche since 2001, most recently as a Senior Manager. She holds an M.I.M. from the University of St. Thomas, an M.B.A. from the University of North Dakota and an M.S. in Economics and Management from Kostanai State University. Ms. Tleuova is a Certified Public Accountant.

Roger Clark

Mr. Roger Clark is Senior Vice President - Investor Relations of the Company. Clark brings to Time Inc. more than two decades of financial leadership and investor relations experience across the media and digital landscape. He was most recently with Unified Enterprises Corp., where he served as the company's first Chief Financial Officer. Prior to Unified, Clark was Chief Financial Officer of Interclick, Inc. through its sale to Yahoo, Inc. He previously spent 15 years at IAC/InterActiveCorp in various operating and corporate roles, including nine years as Vice President, Investor Relations while the company evolved from a local television broadcaster into one of the world's leading interactive companies. Clark began his career as a CPA with Ernst & Young in Cleveland and Los Angeles.

Alan Murray

Mr. Alan Murray is Chief Content Officer of the Company. He has served as our Chief Content Officer, Time Inc. since July 2016 and Editor In Chief, Fortune since August 2014. Prior to that, he served as President of the Pew Research Center from January 2013 to July 2014, where he tripled the center’s digital footprint. Mr. Murray served as Deputy Managing Editor and Executive Editor, Online at the Wall Street Journal from 2007 to 2012, with editorial responsibility for the Journal’s websites, mobile products, television, video, books and conferences. He also spent a decade as the Journal’s Washington Bureau Chief, from 1993 to 2002, during which time the bureau won three Pulitzer Prizes. Between his stints at the Journal, Alan served as CNBC’s Washington Bureau Chief from 2002 to 2005, co-hosting, Capital Report with Alan Murray and Gloria Borger. Mr. Murray is also the author of four books.

Katie Stanton

Ms. Katie J. Stanton serves as Director of the Company. Ms. Stanton has served as the Chief Marketing Officer of Color, a health technology service that offers physician-ordered genetic testing for hereditary cancer risk, since August 2016. Prior to Color, she was Vice President, Global Media at Twitter, Inc. from 2014, responsible for building media partnerships around the world and across strategic verticals including news, television, sports, fashion and music. Prior to this role she was Vice President for International Market Development, responsible for partnerships, user growth and key operations in the strategic markets of Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and Africa from 2010. Before joining Twitter, she worked at the White House, the State Department, Google, Inc., Yahoo, Inc. and Chase Manhattan Bank. Ms. Stanton has served on the Supervisory Board of Vivendi SA, a French multinational media company headquartered in Paris, since 2014. She is also a founding partner of #Angels, a Silicon Valley-based investment group.

David Bell

Mr. David A. Bell is Independent Director of the company. He brings over 40 years of advertising and marketing industry experience to our Board, having served as CEO of three of the largest companies in the industry–Bozell Worldwide, True North Communications and The Interpublic Group of Companies, Inc. Mr. Bell currently provides strategic branding, digital marketing and public relations services through Belwether Advisors, a consulting sole proprietorship. Mr. Bell has served as a Senior Advisor to AOL Inc. since 2009 and as an Operating Advisor to Pegasus Capital Advisors LP since 2004. Mr. Bell also served as a Senior Advisor to Google Inc. from 2006 to 2009. Mr. Bell is currently Chairman of Gyro, an advertising agency focused on business-to-business marketing, and is a member of the boards of directors of Creative Realities, Inc., an integrated experiential design firm that assists retail marketers in creating interactive consumer experiences, and multiple early-stage companies including Double Verify, Your Tango, Resonate Networks, Dstillery and 33Across. He has also served on the boards of multiple publicly-traded companies, including The Interpublic Group of Companies Inc. from 2003 to 2005 and PRIMEDIA Inc. from 2001 to 2010. Mr. Bell was inducted into the Advertising Hall of Fame in 2007.

Manuel Fernandez

Mr. Manuel A. Fernandez is Independent Director of the company. Until his retirement in November 2013, Mr. Fernandez served on the board of Sysco Corporation, a global leader in selling, marketing and distributing food products, for seven years, holding the titles of Executive Chairman (to which he was appointed in 2012) and Non Executive Chairman of the board (to which he was appointed in 2009). Mr. Fernandez has been Managing Partner of SI Ventures, LLC, a venture capital partnership focusing on information technology and communications infrastructure companies that enable e-business, since 2000. He also held the positions of Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Gartner, Inc., a leading information technology research and consulting company, from 1989 until 2000; and President and Chief Executive Officer of three technology-driven companies: Dataquest, Inc., Gavilan Computer Corporation and Zilog Incorporated. Mr. Fernandez has served on the board of Brunswick Corporation as lead director since 2005. He has also served on the board of directors of Leggett & Platt, Incorporated since 2014. Mr. Fernandez served on the board of directors of Sysco Corporation from 2006 until his retirement in 2013 and on the board of directors of Flowers Foods, Inc. from 2005 to 2014. He was a director at Stanley Black & Decker, Inc. (and its predecessor the Black & Decker Company) from 2000 to 2012, is a former Chairman of the board of trustees of the University of Florida, and was appointed by President Bush in May 2003 to serve as a member of the President’s Information Technology Advisory Committee.

Dennis FitzSimons

Mr. Dennis J. FitzSimons is Independent Director of the company. He has served since 2004 as Chairman of the Chicago-based Robert R. McCormick Foundation, a charitable organization with extensive assets. Prior to that, Mr. FitzSimons was the Chief Executive Officer of Tribune Company from 2003 to 2007 and Chairman from 2004 to 2007, stepping down upon completing the sale of the company. Mr. FitzSimons began his 25-year career at Tribune in 1982, spending his first 17 years in the broadcast division in positions of increasing responsibility, including General Manager of WGN-TV, Chicago, and President/Chief Executive Officer of Tribune Broadcasting. He was appointed Executive Vice President of Tribune Company in January 2000, with responsibility for the company’s broadcasting, publishing and digital groups, as well as the Chicago Cubs Major League Baseball team. He was elected to the Tribune Company board of directors in 2000 and named President and Chief Operating Officer in July 2001 before becoming CEO in January 2003 and Chairman in January 2004. He started his media career at Grey Advertising in New York. Mr. FitzSimons serves as a Director of Media General, Inc. He is a Trustee of both Northwestern University and Chicago’s Museum of Science and Industry. Mr. FitzSimons chaired the Media Security and Reliability Council for the U.S. Federal Communications Commission from 2002 to 2004 and served as a Director of The Associated Press from 2004 to 2007.

Betsy Holden

Ms. Betsy D. Holden is Independent Director of the Company. She has been a Senior Advisor to McKinsey & Company, a global management consulting firm, since April 2007, working with clients on strategy, marketing and board effectiveness initiatives. From 2001 to 2003, she was Co-Chief Executive Officer of Kraft Foods and from 2000 to 2003, she was Chief Executive Officer of Kraft Foods North America. Additional positions at Kraft included President, Global Marketing and Category Development and Executive Vice President, with oversight of operations, IT, procurement, research and development, and marketing services, as well as multiple business unit President and line management assignments. Under her leadership, Kraft Foods was a food industry leader in developing digital programs related to customer relationship management, marketing and content and won numerous marketing and innovation accolades. Ms. Holden serves on the boards of Diageo plc and Western Union Holdings, Inc. Ms. Holden serves on the executive committees of the Duke University Board of Trustees, the Global Advisory Board of the Kellogg School of Management and Ravinia Festival’s Board of Trustees. She is President of the Off the Street Club Board and is Treasurer of the Board of Chicago High School for the Arts. Ms. Holden previously served on the boards of Catamaran Corporation, Kraft Foods, Tupperware, Tribune Company and Media Bank. She was a 2015 honoree of the NACD Directorship 100 award.

Kay Koplovitz

Ms. Kay Koplovitz is Independent Director of the company. She founded, built and served for 21 years as Chairman & CEO of the highly successful USA Networks, the first advertiser-supported basic cable network. She is credited with introducing to the basic cable network business model a second revenue stream, licensing fees, in addition to advertising. She also negotiated the first cable television deals for multiple professional sports leagues and events. Since stepping down from USA Networks in 1998, she has simultaneously run Koplovitz & Company, a media advisory and investment firm specializing in marketing and growth strategies for early to late stage companies, and Springboard Enterprises, a non-profit entity dedicated to training women leaders of high-growth technology oriented companies to raise capital. Also in 1998 Ms. Koplovitz was appointed by President Clinton to chair the National Women’s Business Council. Ms. Koplovitz serves on the boards of CA Technologies, Inc. and ION Media Networks. She also serves on the boards of non-profit entities The Paley Center for Media, The International Tennis Hall of Fame, The College of Letters and Science at the University of Wisconsin and Springboard Enterprises.

Ronald Rolfe

Mr. Ronald S. Rolfe, Esq. is Independent Director of the company. He is a retired Partner at Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP, a premier law firm in the United States, where he practiced until his retirement in December 2010. Mr. Rolfe’s practice spanned the world and included corporate governance, securities, antitrust and commercial litigation and arbitration for U.S. and international clients. Mr. Rolfe began as an Associate with Cravath in 1970 and became Partner in 1977. He also served as Law Clerk to the Honorable Marvin E. Frankel, U.S. District Court Judge in the Southern District of New York, in 1969. Mr. Rolfe currently serves on the boards of directors of public companies Berry Global Group, Inc. (since 2013) and Reynolds American Inc. (since 2014). He also currently serves on the boards of directors of private companies Advanced Assessment Systems, Inc. and CloudLex, Inc. and the boards of advisors of Lexvia Inc. and Space Time Insight, Inc. Mr. Rolfe previously served on the board of directors of Noranda Aluminum Holding Corporation from 2013 to October 2016.

Michael Zeisser

Mr. Michael P. Zeisser is Independent Director of the Company. He has been Chairman, U.S. Investments, for Alibaba Group since October 2013. From 2003 to 2013, Mr. Zeisser was Senior Vice President of Liberty Interactive Corporation (formerly known as Liberty Media Corporation). Prior to joining Liberty Media, Mr. Zeisser was a partner at McKinsey & Company in New York from 1996 to 2003, where he co-founded and led McKinsey’s Internet Practice. Mr. Zeisser currently serves on the boards of XO Group, Inc. and Shutterfly, Inc. He previously served on the boards of TripAdvisor, Inc. and IAC/Interactive Corp. Mr. Zeisser is a member of the Media Advisory Group of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
