Noble Energy, Inc., incorporated on December 29, 1969, is an independent energy company. The Company is engaged in crude oil, natural gas and natural gas liquids (NGLs) exploration, development, production and acquisition. The Company's segments include United States, including the onshore DJ Basin, Permian Basin and Eagle Ford Shale; Eastern Mediterranean, including offshore Israel and Cyprus; West Africa, including offshore Equatorial Guinea, Cameroon and Gabon; Other International and Corporate, including new ventures, such as offshore the Falkland Islands, Suriname and Newfoundland; and Midstream. The Company's portfolio of assets is diversified through the United States and international projects and production mix among crude oil, natural gas and NGLs. Its business focuses on both the United States unconventional basins and certain global conventional basins.
The Company searches for crude oil and natural gas properties onshore and offshore, and seeks to acquire exploration rights and conducts exploration activities in various areas of interest. The Company's properties consist primarily of interests in developed and undeveloped crude oil and natural gas leases and concessions. The Company also owns midstream assets primarily used in the processing and transportation of its onshore production in the United States. The Company's exploration activities include geophysical and geological evaluation; analysis of commercial, regulatory and political risks, and exploratory drilling.
The Company's DJ Basin is a United States-based crude oil resource play. As of December 31, 2017, DJ Basin covered an area of approximately 335,000 net acres. The Company focuses on drilling and development activity on Integrated Development Plan (IDP) areas, such as Wells Ranch and East Pony, allowing it to consolidate processing and handling infrastructure across large areas. As of December 31, 2017, it held approximately 117,000 net acres in the Delaware Basin. As of December 31, 2017, its Eagle Ford Shale held approximately 35,000 net acres, including producing assets in Webb and Dimmit counties. The Company's operations in the Permian Basin focus on Reeves County in the Southern Delaware Basin.
The Company's West Africa includes the Alba field, Block O and Block I offshore Equatorial Guinea, the YoYo mining concession, offshore Cameroon and one block offshore Gabon. As of December 31, 2017, the Company held approximately 118,000 net developed acres and 30,000 net undeveloped acres in Equatorial Guinea, 168,000 net undeveloped acres in Cameroon and 403,000 net undeveloped acres in Gabon. Aseng is an oil field on Block I, offshore Equatorial Guinea. Alen is a natural gas and condensate field primarily on Block O, offshore Equatorial Guinea, which included three production wells and three natural gas injection wells connected to a production platform that utilizes the Aseng floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) for storage and offloading. The Alba Field is a natural gas and condensate field located offshore, Equatorial Guinea. The Company held interest in approximately 168,000 undeveloped acres offshore Cameroon in its YoYo mining concession, as of December 31, 2017. Its Offshore Gabon operated Block Doukou Dak, an undeveloped, deepwater area, covered approximately 671,000 gross acres, as of December 31, 2017.
The Company's Eastern Mediterranean position included approximately 78,000 net developed acres and 116,000 net undeveloped acres located between 10 and 90 miles offshore Israel in water depths ranging from 700 feet to 6,500 feet, as of December 31, 2017. The license offshore Cyprus covered approximately 33,000 net undeveloped acres adjacent to its Israel acreage, as of December 31, 2017. The Israel Natural Gas Projects include Tamar Natural Gas Project and Leviathan Natural Gas Project.
The Company's Midstream business includes gathering, treating, and transportation assets, as well as water-related infrastructure, including fresh water delivery and produced water disposal assets. Its Midstream assets are located with its exploration and production activities in the DJ and Delaware Basins. Its Midstream operations include Noble Midstream Partners LP that owns, operates, develops, and acquires a range of domestic midstream infrastructure assets.
