Vornado Realty Trust, incorporated on March 29, 1993, is a real estate investment trust (REIT). The Company conducts its business through Vornado Realty L.P. (the Operating Partnership). The Company operates through two segments: New York and Washington, DC. The Company's interests in properties are held by the Operating Partnership. As of December 31, 2016, the Company owned the 3.7 million square foot Mart (theMart) in Chicago. As of December 31, 2016, the Company had controlling interest in a three-building office complex containing 1.8 million square feet, known as the Bank of America Center, located at California and Montgomery Streets, in San Francisco's financial district (555 California Street).
As of December 31, 2016, the Company was engaged in constructing a residential condominium tower containing 397,000 salable square feet on its 220 Central Park South development site. As of December 31, 2016, the Company was engaged in developing a 173,000 square foot Class-A office building at 512 West 22nd Street, along the western edge of the High Line in the West Chelsea submarket of Manhattan. As of December 31, 2016, the Company was engaged in developing a 170,000 square foot office and retail building at 61 Ninth Avenue, located on the southwest corner of Ninth Avenue and 15th Street in the West Chelsea submarket of Manhattan. As of December 31, 2016, the Company was engaged in developing a 34,000 square foot office and retail building at 606 Broadway, located on the northeast corner of Broadway and Houston Street in Manhattan.
As of December 31, 2016, the Company's New York segment consisted of 28.3 million square feet in 86 properties. As of December 31, 2016, the New York segment also included 11 garages totaling 1.7 million square feet (4,970 spaces), which were managed by, or leased to, third parties. Its properties include 1290 Avenue of the Americas, Two Penn Plaza, 770 Broadway, 90 Park Avenue, 350 Park Avenue, 150 East 58th Street, 595 Madison Avenue, 640 Fifth Avenue, 40 Fulton Street, 260 Eleventh Avenue, 150 West 34th Street, 435 Seventh Avenue, 692 Broadway, 148 Spring Street, 137 West 33rd Street and 510 Fifth Avenue.
As of December 31, 2016, the Company's Washington, DC segment consisted of 58 properties aggregating 14.7 million square feet, including 11.1 million square feet of office space in 44 properties, nine residential properties containing 3,156 units and a hotel property. As of December 31, 2016, the Washington, DC segment also included 45 garages totaling approximately seven million square feet (22,110 spaces), which were managed by, or leased to third parties. Its properties include 2001 Jefferson Davis Highway, 223 23rd Street, 2221 South Clark Street, 1700 M Street and Met Park/Warehouses.
