BCE Inc., incorporated on August 1, 2004, is a communications company. The Company provides residential, business and wholesale customers with a range of solutions for all their communications needs. The Company's segments include Bell Wireless, Bell Wireline and Bell Media.
The Company's Bell Wireless segment provides wireless voice and data communications products and services to its residential, small and medium-sized business and large enterprise customers across Canada. The Company deploys and operates various wireless broadband networks, such as Fourth Generation (4G) Long-term Evolution (LTE) network, LTE Advanced (LTE-A) network service, High-speed packet access plus (HSPA+) network, National third generation (3G) code division multiple access (CDMA) network and wireless fidelity (Wi-Fi) network. 4G LTE network provides mobile Internet data access speeds of approximately 150 megabits per second (Mbps) (typical speeds of 12 to 40 Mbps); reverts to the HSPA+ network outside LTE coverage area, ensuring continuity of service, and Supports international roaming in approximately 100 destinations. Dual-band LTE-A provides mobile Internet data access speeds of over 260 Mbps (typical speeds of 18 to 74 Mbps). HSPA+ network provides high-speed mobile access of over 21 Mbps in various areas (typical speeds of 3.5 to 8 Mbps), and as high as 42 Mbps in areas with dual cell capability when using compatible devices (typical speeds of 7 to 14 Mbps). The Company has approximately 2,500 retail points of distribution across Canada, including over 1,400 Bell-branded stores and The Source locations, Glentel-operated stores, as well as other third-party dealer and retail locations. Its products and services include voice and data plans, mobile Internet, travel, Voice and Video over LTE (VoLTE), Internet of Things (IoT) solutions and mobile business solutions. The Bell Wireless segment includes wireless-related product sales from its subsidiary, national consumer electronics retailer, The Source (Bell) Electronics Inc. (The Source).
The Company's Bell Wireline segment provides data, including Internet access and Internet protocol television (IPTV), local telephone, long distance, as well as other communications services and products to its residential, small and medium-sized business and large enterprise customers, primarily in Ontario, Quebec and the Atlantic provinces, while Satellite television service and connectivity to business customers are available nationally across Canada. In addition, Bell Wireline segment includes its wholesale business, which buys and sells local telephone, long distance, data and other services from or to resellers and other carriers, and the wireline operations of Northwestel Inc. (Northwestel), which provides telecommunications services in Canada's Northern Territories. It also offers competitive local exchange carrier (CLEC) services in Alberta and British Columbia. It has a fiber network in Canada, spanning over 196,000 kilometers, and broadband fiber network, consisting of fiber-to-the-node (FTTN) and fiber-to-the-premise (FTTP) locations, covering over 8.3 million homes and businesses in Ontario, Quebec and the Atlantic provinces.
The Bell Wireline segment allows access to the data center footprint in Canada with approximately 30 locations in seven provinces, enabling it to offer data center co-location and hosted services to business customers across Canada. It has approximately 1,400 Bell-branded stores and The Source locations across Canada. Its products and services include Internet, Home Phone, NextGen Home Security, Bundles, and voice and unified communications.
The Company's Bell Media segment provides conventional, specialty and pay Television, digital media, and radio broadcasting services and out of home (OOH) advertising services to customers across Canada. The Bell Media segment has approximately 30 conventional television stations, including CTV; over 30 specialty television channels, including TSN; four national pay television services, including The Movie Network (TMN) and Super Ecran, and over 100 licensed radio stations in approximately 50 markets across Canada. It operates a network of approximately 30,000 advertising faces in British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, Quebec and Nova Scotia. It also operates over 200 Websites and 30 applications. Its products and services include Advertising, CraveTV subscription on-demand TV streaming service and TV Everywhere services.
