Deutsche Telekom AG is a provider of information technology (IT) and telecommunications services. The Company's operating segments include Germany, consisting of fixed-network and mobile activities in Germany; United States, which consists of mobile activities in the United States market; Europe, consisting of fixed-network and mobile operations of the national companies in various European countries, such as Greece, Romania, Hungary, Poland, the Czech Republic, Croatia, the Netherlands and Austria; Systems Solutions, which operates information and communication technology (ICT) systems for multinational corporations and public sector institutions, and Group Headquarters & Group Services, which consists of the operations of service headquarters and various other subsidiaries of the Company. The Company's fixed-network business includes voice and data communications activities based on fixed-network and broadband technology, and also includes the sale of terminal equipment and other hardware, as well as the sale of services to resellers. The mobile communications business offers mobile voice and data services to consumers and business customers, along with the sale of mobile terminals and other hardware.
The Company offers a range of fixed network and mobile communications. MagentaEINS is the Company's integrated product consisting of fixed-network and mobile components. The Company offers its products and services under the Deutsche Telekom and congstar brands. It provides a range of mobile telephony and data services. The Company's fixed network services include telephony, Internet and television. It provides various data communications services, such as Internet-based data networks (Internet protocol virtual private networks or IP VPNs) and location networking. The Germany segment also provides wholesale telecommunications services for the other segments of the Company.
The Company provides mobile communications services in the United States under the T-Mobile US name. The Company offers its services in the United States also under the MetroPCS brand.
The Europe segment consists of various fixed-network and mobile operations of the national companies in Greece, Romania, Hungary, Poland, the Czech Republic, Croatia, the Netherlands, Slovakia, Austria, Albania, the F.Y.R.O. Macedonia and Montenegro. The Europe segment also includes the operations of the International Carrier Sales and Solutions unit (ICSS), which primarily provides wholesale telecommunications services for the Company's other segments; Group Technology, and Global Network Factory (GNF). Group Technology ensures customized provision of technologies, platforms and services for mobile and fixed-network communications. GNF designs and operates a global network for providing wholesale customers with voice and data communication. The Europe segment also offers information and communications technology (ICT) services to business customers in various individual national companies. The Company offers mobile communications services, such as mobile telephony and data services, and fixed network services, such as telephony, Internet and television.
The Systems Solutions segment bundles business with ICT products and solutions for multinational companies under the T-Systems brand. The segment offers its customers ICT from a single source, and develops and operates infrastructure and industry solutions for various multinational companies and public institutions. The products and services the Systems Solutions segment offers ranges from standard products and IP-based networks through to ICT solutions. The Systems Solutions segment's offering primarily includes services from the cloud, machine to machine (M2M), security solutions, and standardized mobile and fixed-network products, as well as solutions for virtual collaboration and IT platforms. The Systems Solutions segment includes the Market Unit and Telekom IT business areas.
