Enerplus Corporation, incorporated on August 12, 2010, is an oil and natural gas company. The Company's oil and natural gas property interests are located in the United States, primarily in North Dakota, Montana, and Pennsylvania, as well as in western Canada in the provinces of Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan. The Company's oil and natural gas property interests contains proved plus probable gross reserves of approximately 14.3 million barrels (MMbbls) of light and medium crude oil, 39.0 MMbbls of heavy crude oil, 123 MMbbls of tight oil, 18.1 MMbbls of natural gas liquids (NGLs), 126.3 billion cubic feet (Bcf) of conventional natural gas and 1,002.8 Bcf of shale gas, for a total of approximately 382.5 million barrels of oil equivalent (MMBOE).
The Company's primary crude oil properties in the United States are located in the Fort Berthold region of North Dakota and in Richland County, Montana. It has approximately 65,500 net acres of land in Fort Berthold, primarily in Dunn and McKenzie counties and, on a production basis, operates approximately 81% of its Fort Berthold asset. Its Fort Berthold property produces a light sweet crude oil with associated natural gas and NGLs, from both the Bakken and Three Forks formations. Fort Berthold production average is approximately 28,570 barrels of oil equivalent per day (BOE/day). The Company also has working interests in Sleeping Giant, a mature, light oil property located in the Elm Coulee field in Richland County, Montana. Sleeping Giant produces approximately 4,329 BOE/day on average from the Bakken formation. Overall, the Company's Williston Basin crude oil properties in the United Sates produce on an average of approximately 32,900 BOE/day.
The Company's natural gas properties in the United States consist entirely of its non-operated Marcellus shale gas interests located in northeastern Pennsylvania, where the Company holds an interest in approximately 39,100 net acres. Its Marcellus shale gas produces on an average of 195,317 thousand cubic feet per day (Mcf/day). In addition, the Company has entered into agreements for the gathering, dehydration, processing, compression and transportation of its share of production from its Marcellus properties.
The Canadian crude oil properties where the Company invested its capital include Mannville oil production in Medicine Hat and Cadogan in Alberta, as well as southeast Saskatchewan, which produces from the Mississippian Ratcliffe formation. Of approximately 59.9 MMBOE of proved plus probable reserves associated with the Company's Canadian crude oil properties, 59.5 MMBOE are associated with the Canadian crude oil waterflood properties, including those acquired at Ante Creek. Its Canadian natural gas properties are located in Alberta, Saskatchewan and British Columbia. Its Canadian natural gas properties include Shackleton, Tommy Lakes and Brooks. Canadian natural gas properties proved plus probable reserves amounts to approximately 105 billion cubic feet of natural gas equivalent (BcfGE).
