Enviva Partners, LP, incorporated on November 12, 2013, is a supplier of utility-grade wood pellets to power generators. The Company procures wood fiber and processes it into utility-grade wood pellets and loads the finished wood pellets into railcars, trucks and barges that are transported to deep-water marine terminals, where they are received, stored and loaded onto oceangoing vessels for transport to the Company's principally Northern European customers. The Company's principal product, utility-grade wood pellets, is a traded energy commodity that is used as a substitute for coal in both dedicated and co-fired power generation and combined heat and power plants. It enables power generators to generate electricity. The Company's customers use its wood pellets as a substitute fuel for coal in dedicated biomass or co-fired coal power plants. Wood pellets are exported from the Company's deep-water marine terminal in Chesapeake, Virginia, from a deep-water marine terminal in Wilmington, North Carolina.

As of December 31, 2016, the Company had owned and operated six industrial-scale production plants located in the Mid-Atlantic and the Gulf Coast regions of the United States, geographic areas that had a combined wood pellet production capacity of 2.8 million metric tons per year (MTPY). The Company also owns a dry-bulk, deep-water marine terminal at the Port of Chesapeake (the Chesapeake terminal). The Company's four wood pellet production plants in the Mid-Atlantic region include Ahoskie, North Carolina; Northampton, North Carolina; Sampson, North Carolina, and Southampton, Virginia. As of December 31, 2016, the Ahoskie plant had a production capacity of 375,000 MTPY. As of December 31, 2016, the Northampton plant produced 525,000 MTPY of wood pellets. The Southampton plant is a build-and-copy replica of its Northampton plant and produced 515,000 MTPY of wood pellets as of December 31, 2016. The Company also the Wilmington terminal that is capable of receiving product by rail and truck, storing up to 90,000 metric tons of wood pellets, and loading up to panamax-sized vessels.
