In addition to professionally produced content, content from Phoenix TV and its in-house produced content, the Company allows its users to UGC to its Websites and mobile applications. The Company operates in two segments: net advertising services and paid services. The Company provides its content and services through channels, including ifeng.com channel, video channel and mobile channel, and also transmits its content to television viewers, primarily through Phoenix TV. Together, these channels form a single converged platform providing integrated text, image and video content.
The Company's ifeng.com channel consists of its ifeng.com, including interest-based verticals, interactive services and Web-based game platform. The Company provides over 40 interest-based verticals, each of which features integrated text, image and video content, and embedded interactive services, such as user surveys and comment postings. The Company's users can also access a portion of its interest-based verticals' content through its mobile channel, including mobile Internet Website, mobile applications and mobile value-added services, and can view in-house produced content and UGC created on these verticals on Phoenix TV's regular programs. The Company's interest-based verticals include News, Finance, Automobiles, Entertainment, Fashion, Military affairs, Sports, History and Online Literature. The Company's interactive services allow its users to interact with the content it provides, opening up avenues for exchange of information. The interactive services it offers include Blog, User surveys and Comment posting. The Company's game platform, play.ifeng.com, offers Web-based games licensed from third parties. Its game portfolio includes role-playing, strategy and casual games. The Company offers a total of approximately 90 licensed Web-based games on its platform.
The Company's video channel includes its online video vertical at v.ifeng.com and video content sales business. The Company's v.ifeng.com vertical offers over four categories of video products and services, including free online video on demand (VOD), live Phoenix TV broadcasts, subscription online video service and pay-per-view online video service. The Company organizes and presents video content, supplemented by text, images, user surveys and comment postings on its v.ifeng.com vertical. Its free online VOD consist of short clips of approximately five minutes of news programs, interviews, documentaries and other programs. Its VOD content is searchable on the Company's Website and is organized into over 10 verticals of v.ifeng.com for browsing, including news, military affairs, documentaries, entertainment, variety shows, movies and dramas, and amusements. The Company offers live streams of Phoenix TV's channels, such as the Phoenix Chinese Channel, the Phoenix InfoNews Channel, and the Phoenix Hong Kong Channel. These live broadcasts on the Company's v.ifeng.com vertical provide alternative means for viewing these Phoenix TV programs through an Internet-enabled device. The Company's online video subscription service enables users to watch advertisement-free content, such as feature-length documentaries and online Phoenix TV programming. Its online video pay-per-view service enables users to watch advertisement-free videos by purchasing access to particular videos on vip.v.ifeng.com. The Company also sublicenses video content that it obtains from Phoenix TV to third parties, including third party Websites or other Internet or mobile media companies.
The Company's mobile channel consists of its mobile Internet Website, i.ifeng.com, mobile applications and Mobile Value Added Services (MVAS). MVAS include mobile video services, mobile digital reading services, mobile game services and Wireless Value Added Services (WVAS). Users can access its mobile content and MVAS directly from their mobile phones: on its mobile Internet Website, 3g.ifeng.com, by downloading the Company's applications or by opening a pre-installed application on their mobile devices, or from a mobile operator's platforms. The Company provides and markets its MVAS through cooperation with mobile operators, as well as various mobile device manufacturers, Internet sites, and technology and media companies.
The Company's i.ifeng.com Website is a modified version of its ifeng.com site reformatted for use on mobile devices and personalized to the preferences of its mobile users. As part of its converged platform, i.ifeng.com allows its users to access ifeng.com and v.ifeng.com content while they are on-the-go. The Company offers a range of mobile applications for different mobile devices, including but not limited to: ifeng News, which provides news in the form of text and image; ifeng Video, which provides video news and other video content; ifeng FM, which provides audio news and other audio content, and ifeng Book, which provides digital format books licensed from third-party publishers.
The Company's MVAS includes product lines, such as Mobile Video Services, which offer video content through the mobile video platforms of over three of the telecom operators; Mobile Digital Reading Services, which includes Mobile Newspaper Service and Digital Books Service; Mobile Games Services delivered through the Telecom Operators' Platforms, which offers mobile games through China Mobile's, China Unicom's and China Telecom's gaming platforms allowing users to download its programs using general packet radio service (GPRS) and third-generation/fourth-generation (3G/4G) technologies, and WVAS, which include short messaging service (SMS)-based Services, Music Services, Interactive voice response (IVR)-based Services, multimedia messaging service (MMS)-based Services. Its mobile channel also includes mobile games.
