Goldcorp Inc. (Goldcorp), incorporated on December 1, 2006, is a gold producer engaged in the operation, exploration, development and acquisition of precious metal properties in Canada, the United States, Mexico, and Central and South America. The Company's segments include Red Lake Gold Mines Ontario Partnership (Red Lake), Goldcorp Canada Ltd./Goldcorp Inc. (Porcupine), Goldcorp Canada Ltd./Goldcorp Inc. (Musselwhite), Les Mines Opinaca Ltee (Eleonore), Kaminak Gold Corporation (Kaminak), Minera Penasquito S.A. de C.V. and Camino Rojo S.A. de C.V. (Penasquito), Oroplata S.A. (Cerro Negro), Minera Alumbrera Limited (Alumbrera), Pueblo Viejo Dominicana Corporation (Pueblo Viejo) and NuevaUnion SpA (NuevaUnion). The Company's principal producing mining properties consist of the Eleonore, Musselwhite, Porcupine and Red Lake mines in Canada; the Penasquito mine in Mexico; the Cerro Negro mine in Argentina, and the Pueblo Viejo mine in the Dominican Republic. The Company's principal product is gold dore with the refined gold bullion sold primarily in the London spot market.
The Company's Red Lake project is located approximately 230 kilometers northwest of Dryden, Ontario. The Company's mining operation covers approximately 2,335 hectares and is accessible by Highway 105, which heads north from the Trans-Canada Highway. At Red Lake there are two projects, Cochenour and HG Young. The Company's Eleonore project is located in gold-producing district, the northeast corner of the Opinaca Reservoir in the James Bay region of Quebec, Canada. Eleonore is located within the contact zone between the La Grande and Opinaca sub-provinces. The Company's Porcupine project is located in Timmins, Ontario. Its Porcupine project consists of four mining operations, Hoyle Pond, Dome Underground and the Hollinger open pit all of, which feed the Dome processing facility.
The Company's Musselwhite mine is a fly-in/fly-out operation on the southern shore of Opapimiskan Lake in northwestern Ontario, Canada, 480 kilometers north of Thunder Bay. The Musselwhite property consists of a combination of leases and mining claim units covering a total area of approximately 17,550 hectares, entirely on First Nations land. The Company's Borden project located near Chapleau in Ontario, is approximately 160 kilometers west of Goldcorp's Porcupine mine. The Company's Cochenour Project is located five kilometers west of the Company's operation, Red Lake Gold Mines, and approximately 230 kilometers northwest of Dryden, Ontario. The Cochenour project is situated in the eastern part of the Red Lake Greenstone Belt in the Birch-Uchi Lake Subprovince of the Superior Province, within the core of the Canadian Shield.
The Company's Penasquito mine is a gold producer, consisting of two open pits: Penasco and Chile Colorado containing gold, silver, lead and zinc. The Penasquito mine is located in the northeastern part of the State of Zacatecas in north-central Mexico, 14 kilometers east of the town of Mazapil. The Company's Los Filos operation consists El Bermejal, and one underground mine. The Company's El Sauzal project is located in Chihuahua State, Mexico, El Sauzal mine. The Company's Marlin mine is in the western highlands of Guatemala, in the municipality of San Miguel Ixtahuacan, 25 kilometers west-southwest of the town of Huehuetenango, approximately 300 kilometers northwest of Guatemala City.
The Company's Alumbrera project is located near Belen, Argentina, in Catamarca province, approximately 1,100 kilometers northwest of Buenos Aires. The Company's Pueblo Viejo project is located in the Dominican Republic, approximately 100 kilometers northwest of the capital city of Santo Domingo. The Company's Cerro Negro project is located on the Patagonian plains in the southern Argentinean province of Santa Cruz, at an elevation of approximately 600 meters above sea level. The Company's San Martin project is located in Central Honduras, approximately 90 kilometers north of the capital city of Tegucigalpa. San Martin is situated the upper slopes of the Valley of Siria, in the municipality of San Ignacio. The Company's Camino Rojo gold/silver project is located 50 kilometers southeast of the Penasquito mine in the State of Zacatecas in north-central Mexico. The NuevaUnion Project includes the El Morro gold/copper deposit and the Relincho copper/molybdenum deposit. Its Coffee project is a hosted hydrothermal deposit located approximately 130 kilometers south of the City of Dawson, Yukon.
