The Howard Hughes Corporation, incorporated on July 1, 2010, is a developer of master planned communities and mixed use properties. The Company is engaged in the ownership, management and the redevelopment or repositioning of real estate assets, as well as other real estate opportunities in the form of entitled and unentitled land and other development rights, also called Strategic Developments. The Company operates through three segments: Master Planned Communities, Operating Assets and Strategic Developments.
Master Planned Communities
The Company's Master Planned Communities segment consists of the development and sale of residential land and the development of commercial land to hold, develop or sell. Its master planned communities are located in and around Houston, Texas; Las Vegas, Nevada, and Columbia, Maryland. The Company also sells or leases land for commercial development. The Company's master planned communities include The Woodlands, Summerlin, Maryland, Bridgeland and The Woodlands Hills. As of December 31, 2016, Master planned communities included over 11,500 acres of land remaining to be developed or sold.
As of December 31, 2016, the Company's Operating Assets segment included 54 properties, investments and other assets, consisting of retail, office, multi-family and hospitality properties. As of December 31, 2016, the Operating Assets segment includes 13 retail, 24 office, six multi-family and four hospitality properties (one is closed for redevelopment) and seven other operating assets and investments. The retail properties include Columbia Regional Building (Columbia, Maryland), Cottonwood Square (Salt Lake City, Utah), Downtown Summerlin (Las Vegas, Nevada), Landmark Mall (Alexandria, Virginia), Outlet Collection at Riverwalk (New Orleans, Louisiana), Park West (Peoria, Arizona) and The Seaport District (New York, New York). The Company's multi-family portfolio consists of Constellation, Millennium Waterway Apartments, One Lakes Edge and The Metropolitan Downtown. Its hospitality portfolio consists of Embassy Suites at Hughes Landing, The Westin at The Woodlands and The Woodlands Resort & Conference Center. Its other assets include Kewalo Basin Harbor, The Woodlands Parking Garages and Woodlands Sarofim.
As of December 31, 2016, the Company's Strategic Developments segment included 23 development projects. As of December 31, 2016, the Company had 11 properties under construction. Its portfolio of projects include Anaha, Creekside Park Apartments, 100 Fellowship Drive, Ke Kilohana, One Merriweather, Two Merriweather, AllenTowne, American City Building, Bridges at Mint Hill, Cottonwood Mall, Kendall Town Center and West Windsor.
