Hyster-Yale Materials Handling, Inc., incorporated on February 26, 1999, is a lift truck manufacturer. The Company designs, engineers, manufactures, sells and services a line of lift trucks, attachments and aftermarket parts marketed globally under the Hyster and Yale brand names, mainly to independent Hyster and Yale retail dealerships. The Company operates through five segments: the Americas, EMEA, JAPIC, Bolzoni and Nuvera. The Company offers a range of solutions, including attachments and hydrogen fuel cell power products, telematics, automation and fleet management services, as well as an array of other power options for its lift trucks. The Company operates Nuvera Fuel Cells, LLC (Nuvera). Nuvera is an alternative-power technology company focused on fuel-cell stacks and related systems. Nuvera also supports on-site hydrogen production and dispensing systems that are designed to deliver clean energy solutions to customers.
The Company's segments for the lift truck business include three management units: the Americas, EMEA and JAPIC. Americas includes operations in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Latin America and its corporate headquarters. EMEA includes operations in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. JAPIC includes operations in the Asia and Pacific regions including China. The Company manufactures components, such as frames, masts and transmissions, and assembles lift trucks. As of December 31, 2016, the Company operated 12 lift truck manufacturing and assembly facilities across the world with five plants in the Americas, three in EMEA, and four in JAPIC, including joint venture operations. As of December 31, 2016, the Company operated seven Bolzoni manufacturing facilities across the world.
The Company offers a line of aftermarket parts to service its installed base of lift trucks in use in the industry. The Company offers online technical reference databases specifying the required aftermarket parts to service lift trucks and an aftermarket parts ordering system. The Company sells Hyster- and Yale-branded aftermarket parts to dealers for Hyster and Yale lift trucks. The Company also sells aftermarket parts under the UNISOURCE and PREMIER brands to Hyster and Yale dealers for the service of competitor lift trucks. The Company distributes lift trucks and attachments primarily through two channels: independent dealers and a National Accounts program. In addition, the Company distributes aftermarket parts and service for its lift trucks through its independent dealers.
