Nordstrom, Inc., incorporated on September 28, 1946, is a fashion specialty retailer in the United States. The Company's segments include Retail and Credit. As of March 20, 2017, the Company operated 344 the United States stores located in 40 states as well as an e-commerce business through Nordstrom.com, Nordstromrack.com/HauteLook and TrunkClub.com. As of January 28, 2017, the Company operated approximately three Nordstrom full-line stores, including two in Canada, and 21 Nordstrom Rack stores. The Company also offers its customers a variety of payment products and services, including credit and debit cards.
As of March 20, 2017, the Retail segment included its 117 Nordstrom-branded full-line stores in the United States and Nordstrom.com, 216 off-price Nordstrom Rack stores, five Canada full-line stores, Nordstromrack.com/HauteLook, seven Trunk Club clubhouses and TrunkClub.com, two Jeffrey boutiques and two clearance stores that operate under the name Last Chance. It offers a range of brand-name and private label merchandise focused on apparel, shoes, cosmetics and accessories. Online purchases are shipped to its customers from its Cedar Rapids and East Coast fulfillment centers, but may also be shipped from its Nordstrom full-line stores. The Company's customers can also pick up online orders in its Nordstrom full-line stores if inventory is available at one of its locations.
The Company's Nordstrom Rack stores purchase merchandise from the same vendors carried in Nordstrom full-line stores and also serve as outlets for clearance merchandise from its Nordstrom stores and other retail channels. Nordstromrack.com/HauteLook offers a selection of off-price merchandise, as well as limited-time sale events on fashion and lifestyle brands. Online purchases are shipped to its customers from its San Bernardino fulfillment center. It can accommodate returns from these sites by mail or at any Nordstrom Rack location.
The Company, through Credit segment, allows its customers to access a range of payment products and services, including a Nordstrom-branded private label card, approximately two Nordstrom-branded Visa credit cards and a debit card for Nordstrom purchases. The credit and debit cards feature a loyalty program. Its Nordstrom private label credit and debit cards can be used only at its Nordstrom full-line stores in the United States, Nordstrom Rack stores and online at Nordstrom.com, Nordstromrack.com/HauteLook, while its Nordstrom Visa credit cards also may be used for purchases outside of Nordstrom. Cardholders participate in the Nordstrom Rewards program, through which cardholders accumulate points based on their level of spending. Upon reaching a certain points threshold, cardholders receive Nordstrom Notes, which can be redeemed for goods or services at Nordstrom full-line stores in the United States and Canada, Nordstrom Rack stores and at Nordstrom.com. Nordstrom Rewards customers receive reimbursements for alterations, get Personal Triple Points days and have early access to sales.
