Kaman Corporation, incorporated on December 13, 1945, conducts business in the aerospace and distribution markets. The Company operates through two segments: Distribution and Aerospace. The Company's brands include KAflex, KAron and K-MAX. The Company is focused on producing the wing control surfaces (inboard and outboard flaps, slats and deceleron assemblies) for the United States Air Force's (USAF's) A-10 fleet. Its bearings products are included on various military platforms manufactured in North America, Asia and Europe. These products are used as original equipment or specified as replacement parts by the manufacturers. These products are self-lubricating, ball and roller bearings for aircraft flight controls, turbine engines, landing gear and helicopter driveline couplings. Its bearings offerings include super precision miniature ball bearings used in aerospace applications, dental products, surgical power tools, analytical devices and various industrial applications.

The Sikorsky BLACK HAWK helicopter cockpit program involves the manufacture of cockpits, including the installation of wiring harnesses, hydraulic assemblies, control pedals and sticks, seat tracks, pneumatic lines and the composite structure that holds the windscreen for various models of the BLACK HAWK helicopter. As of December 31, 2016, the Company had delivered 74 cockpits. It is focused on the remanufacture and upgrade of four SH-2G Super Seasprite aircraft and support for the operation of a fifth aircraft for the Peruvian Navy. The Company manufactures the Joint Programmable Fuze (JPF), which is an electro-mechanical bomb safe and arming device that allows the settings of a weapon to be programmed in flight. The Company provided the FMU-152A/B to the USAF and 26 other nations, but the United States Navy utilized a different fuze-the FMU-139, as of December 31, 2016. As of December 31, 2016, the Company had provided over 1,000 fixed trailing edge (FTE) kits and assemblies for each of the 777 and 767 programs. Its composites operations in the United Kingdom provide composite components for various Airbus platforms, including A320, A330 and A350. The Company offers engineering design services to Aerospace original equipment manufacturer (OEM) customers.

Distribution Segment

Distribution segment is a power transmission, motion control, and fluid power industrial distributor with operations throughout the United States. Distribution segment conducts business in the mechanical power transmission and bearings, electrical, automation and control, and fluid power product platforms and provides total solutions from system design and integration to machine parts and services to the national manufacturing industry. As of December 31, 2016, with over four million stock keeping units (SKUs), the Company provided electro-mechanical products, bearings, power transmission, motion control and electrical and fluid power components to a spectrum of industrial markets serving both maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) and OEM customers. As of December 31, 2016, with approximately 240 locations, including distribution centers, assembly, fabrication and repair facilities, the Company provided products and service solutions to over 65,000 active customers.

Aerospace Segment

Aerospace segment produces and markets aircraft bearings and components; super precision, miniature ball bearings; metallic and composite aerostructures for commercial, military and general aviation fixed and rotary wing aircraft, and safe and arming solutions for missile and bomb systems for the United States and allied militaries. The segment also markets the design and supply of aftermarket parts to businesses performing MRO in aerospace markets; performs helicopter subcontract work; restores, modifies and supports its SH-2G Super Seasprite maritime helicopters; manufactures and supports its K-MAX manned and unmanned medium-to-heavy lift helicopters, and provides engineering design, analysis and certification services. The SH-2G aircraft is in service with the Egyptian Air Force and the New Zealand, Peruvian and Polish navies. Its operations are conducted throughout the United States, as well as in facilities located in the United Kingdom, Germany, the Czech Republic and Mexico. In addition, the Company maintains an investment in a joint venture in India.
