Ormat Technologies, Inc., incorporated on September 15, 1994, is engaged in the geothermal and recovered energy power business. The Company designs, develops, builds, owns and operates geothermal and recovered energy-based power plants. The Company's equipment manufacturing operations are located in Israel. The Company conducts its business activities in two business segments: Electricity segment and Product segment. The Company also manufactures products that produce electricity from recovered energy or so-called waste heat. It also constructs, owns and operates recovered energy-based power plants.
The Company's Electricity segment develops, builds, owns and operates geothermal and recovered energy-based power plants in the United States and geothermal power plants in other countries around the world, and sells the electricity it generates. The Company owns and operates several plants that are located in California, which include Ormesa complex, Heber Complex, Mammoth Complex and North Brawley; Nevada, which include Steamboat complex, Brady Complex, Tuscarora, Jersey Valley, McGinness Hills, San Emidio and Don A. Campbell; Hawaii, which include Puna; Oregon, which include Neal Hot Springs; Idaho, which include Raft River, and international, which include Amatitlan, Zunil and Olkaria III Complex. The Company also owns and operates recovered energy generation (REG) power plants, which include OREG 1, OREG 2, OREG 3 and OREG 4. Its development assets include a project at the Geysers, California; a second phase project at San Emidio, Nevada; a greenfield project in Crescent Valley, Nevada; and the El Ceibillo project located near Guatemala City, Guatemala.
The Company's Product Segment designs, manufactures and sells equipment for geothermal and recovered energy-based electricity generation and remote power units, and provide services relating to the engineering, procurement, construction, operation and maintenance of geothermal, and recovered energy-based power plants. It designs, manufactures and sells power units for geothermal electricity generation, which is referred to as Ormat Energy Converter (OECs). The Company offers OECs to contractors and geothermal power plant developers, owners and operators. The Company also offers power units used to generate electricity from recovered energy. It offers power units for recovered energy-based power generation to interstate natural gas pipeline owners and operators, gas processing plant owners and operators, cement plant owners and operators, and other companies engaged in other energy-intensive industrial processes. The Company engineers, procures and constructs, as engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor, geothermal and recovered energy power plants on a turnkey basis. The Company designs, manufactures and sells fossil fuel powered turbo-generators with capacities ranging from 200 watts to 5,000 watts. The Company offers turbo-generators to contractors installing gas pipelines in remote areas and off-shore platforms operators, and contractors. In addition, the Company designs, manufactures and sells generators, including heavy duty direct-current generators, for various other uses.
