Profile: Superconductor Technologies Inc (SCON.OQ)
Superconductor Technologies Inc., incorporated on May 11, 1987, is engaged in developing and commercializing high temperature superconductor (HTS) materials and related technologies. The Company operates through the research, development, manufacture and marketing of high performance products used in cellular base stations segment. It develops products for the utility and telecommunications industries. The Company offers SuperLink, AmpLink and SuperPlex family of products. Its Conductus wire product development is focused on markets where HTS wire are recognized by the industry. Its initial product roadmap targets approximately three applications: superconducting transmission cable, superconducting fault current limiters (SFCL) and magnets.
The SuperLink combines a specialized filter using HTS technology with a cryogenic cooler and a low-noise amplifier. Its SuperLink products include SuperLink 700 and SuperLink 850. AmpLink products provide duplexing and uplink enhancement for personal communications service (PCS) and advanced wireless services (AWS) base stations. By integrating the Company's low-loss duplexers and low noise amplifiers (LNAs) into a single unit, the AmpLink allows wireless operators to deploy PCS and AWS networks and overlays using zoning-friendly solutions. Its AmpLink product line includes AmpLink 1700e-F, AmpLink 1900e-F, AmpLink 1900i-F, AmpLink 1900i-FS and AmpLink 850ABi. The SuperPlex line of multiplexing solutions reduce the need for additional antennas and coaxial cable feed lines, while providing functionality in both the 850 megahertz (MHz) cellular band and the 1,900 MHz PCS band. Its SuperPlex line of products include ETR Duplexer 850 B-Band, SuperPlex 1-1900 and HighQ Duplexer 850.
The Company competes with American Superconductor, SuperPower, SuNam, Fujikura, Sumitomo and THEVA.
