Telecom Italia S.p.A. (Telecom Italia), incorporated in 1908, operates fixed voice and data infrastructure in Italy, and provides mobile network platforms. The electronic healthcare service applications available or being developed by the Company include products and services for general practice, aimed at enabling primary care models and medical services, such as screening campaigns managed by general practitioners; legal archiving of digital diagnostic images on the network; management of both healthcare, administrative and logistical processes, and a patient's healthcare information throughout the period of hospitalization; the management and coordination of operational facilities dedicated to emergencies and continuity of assistance, and healthcare monitoring. The electronic healthcare service applications available or being developed by the Company also include Nuvola IT Home Doctor, Fisio@Home, Cassiel 2.0, Tele-monitoring of Parkinson's disease, WebSensor and PAPI. Nuvola IT Home Doctor allows patients suffering from illnesses, or in post-hospital care, to monitor their physiological parameters directly from their homes or in equipped facilities.
The Fisio@Home is an experimental motor telerehabilitation service, which allows medical personnel to remotely monitor the conditions of patients with orthopedic or neuromotor problems. Cassiel 2.0 service provides remote assistance to elderly people, monitoring them and receiving alarm signals in cases of emergency. WebSensor is a prototype for remote monitoring of progress in Parkinson's disease developed with the support of neurologists. Telecom Italia is involved in research regarding cyber security and the security of information and networks. The Company is engaged in the design of a platform based on open source technologies for the collection and management of security big data. It is involved in the study and testing of approaches for safety analysis and risk management on Long Term Evolution (LTE) networks and telco cloud platforms.
The Company competes with Wind-Infostrada, Fastweb, Vodafone, BT Italia, Tiscali, H3G, PosteMobile, CK Hutchinson and VimpelCom.
