TELUS Corporation (TELUS), incorporated on October 26, 1998, is a telecommunications company. The Company provides a range of telecommunications services and products, including wireless and wireline voice and data. Its data services include Internet protocol (IP), television (TV), hosting, managed information technology and cloud-based services, and certain healthcare solutions. The Company operates through two business segments: Wireless segment and Wireline segment. Its wireless and wireline businesses are primarily operated through TELUS Communications Company (TCC). The Company offers business services, including healthcare, across wireless and wireline are supported through TELUS sales representatives, product specialists, independent dealers and online self-serve applications for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs). Its business process outsourcing services are supported through sales representatives and client relationship management teams. Its brands and distribution channels include Koodo Mobile, which is a provider of postpaid and prepaid wireless voice and data services with a distribution network, including TELUS-owned stores, dealers and third-party electronics retailers; Public Mobile, which is a Web-based distribution channel that provides prepaid wireless service, as well as provides customers with a subscriber identity module (SIM)-only service and Optik TV brand.
The Company offers Wireless services for consumers and businesses across Canada, such as data and voice, which offers Web access, social networking and messaging (text, picture and video), as well as mobile applications, including Optik on the go, the Internet of things (IoT) solutions, including machine-to-machine (M2M) connectivity, clear and reliable voice services; push-to-talk (PTT) solutions, including TELUS Link service, and international roaming, and devices, which include smartphones, tablets, mobile Internet keys, mobile wireless fidelity (Wi-Fi) devices, M2M modems and wearable technology. The Company's Wireless services are supported through a network of TELUS-owned and branded stores, including WOW! Mobile, a distribution network of exclusive dealers and third-party electronics retailers and a white label brand for a retail chain, as well as online self-serve applications, mass-marketing campaigns and client-care telephone agents.
The Company's Wireline segment offers products and services, including voice, which is a reliable phone service with long distance and advanced calling features; Internet, an Internet service with e-mail and a suite of security solutions; TELUS TV, which is a high-definition entertainment service with Optik TV and TELUS Satellite TV; IP networks and applications, which offer converged voice, video, data or Internet access on a high-performing network; contact center, business process and information technology (IT) outsourcing solutions in over 30 languages, which provide managed solutions in North America, Central America, Europe and Asia; hosting, managed IT and cloud-based services, which offer cybersecurity and other solutions with ongoing assured availability of telecommunications, networks, servers, databases, files and applications, with critical applications stored in its Internet data centers (IDCs) across Canada; healthcare, which includes pharmacy management, electronic medical records, electronic health records, remote patient monitoring and online settlement claims management solutions, and conferencing and collaboration, which offers a range of equipment and application solutions to support meetings and Webcasts by means of phone, video and Internet. The Company's Wireline residential services are supported through TELUS-owned and branded stores, including third-party electronics retailers, as well as mass-marketing campaigns, client care telephone agents, and online and television-based self-serve applications. The Company's Wireline segment operates as technology substitution, such as the broad deployment of high-speed Internet; the use of e-mail, messaging and social media as voice alternatives, and the growth of wireless and voice over IP (VoIP) services.
