The Company engineers, develops, manufactures and sells braking, stability, suspension and transmission automation and air management systems primarily for commercial vehicles. The Company's products are pneumatic anti-lock braking systems (ABS), electronic braking systems (EBS), electronic stability control (ESC) systems, brake controls, automated manual transmission (AMT) systems, air disc brakes, and a range of conventional mechanical products, such as actuators, air compressors and air control valves for medium- and heavy-duty trucks, buses and trailers. Its products also include foundation brake, air compressor and air processing/air management system; conventional braking system; electronic and conventional air suspension systems; transmission automation; roll stability support (RSS); driver assistance systems (ADAS), and fleet management solutions (FMS).
The Company supplies commercial vehicle aftermarket distributors and service partners, as well as fleet operators with replacement parts, fleet management solutions, diagnostic tools, training and other expert services. It provides control functions by leveraging data from onboard systems to fleet safety, efficiency and security. It also supplies electronic suspension controls and vacuum pumps to the passenger car and sports utility vehicle (SUV), markets in Europe, North America and Asia. It also provides remanufacturing services across the globe. WABCO is the supplier of emergency braking systems (AEBS) homologated in Europe in accordance with European Union regulations. WABCO's OnGuardACTIVE AEBS for trucks and buses complies with European Union regulations. It detects moving, stopping and stationary vehicles ahead. It alerts the driver through acoustic, visual and haptic signals. OnGuardACTIVE autonomously applies the brakes and can bring the vehicle to a complete stop, helping to prevent or mitigate rear-end collisions. The Company sells its products to truck and bus original equipment manufacturers (OEMs); commercial vehicle aftermarket distributors for replacement parts and services and commercial vehicle fleet operators for management solutions and services; trailer OEMs, and car manufacturers.
The Company's actuators convert energy stored in compressed air into mechanical force applied to foundation brake to slow or stop commercial vehicles. Its air compressor and air processing/air management system provides compressed, dried air for braking, suspension and other pneumatic systems on trucks, buses and trailers. Its foundation brakes transmit braking force to slow, stop or hold vehicles. Its ABS prevents wheel locking during braking to ensure steerability and stability. It offers conventional braking systems for control of braking systems in commercial vehicles. Its EBS provides electronic controls of braking systems for commercial vehicles. The Company's electronic and conventional air suspension systems provides level and pressure control of air springs in trucks, buses, trailers and cars. Its transmission automation automates transmission gear shifting for trucks and buses, including clutch operation. Its vehicle ESC and RSS helps in managing driving stability. ADAS promotes driver safety through lane departure warnings, collision mitigation and emergency braking systems. FMS manages vehicle safety for fleet managers through real-time online commercial vehicle telematics and communications.
