Garraffo, Mario 

Dr. Mario Garraffo has served as Non-Executive Independent Director at Ansaldo STS S.p.A. since November 25, 2015. From 1960 until 1970 he has been a Controller and Development Director at La Centrale Finanziaria Generale, a holding company mainly invested in public utilities (communication and energy). From 1970 until 1980 he worked at IFI (now Exor) as Investment Director. From 1980 until 1985 he acted as CEO of IFIL - Finanziaria di Partecipazioni (now Exor) and from 1985 until 1993 he acted as President of IFINT (now Exor). From 1993 until 1998 he was appointed as Chief Executive Officer of Lazard Italia until the acquisition of Vitale, Borghesi & Co. in 1998. From 1998 until 2000 he acted as Chief Executive Officer of UNIM – Unione Immobiliare and Chairman of General Electric Italy and Senior Advisor for General Electric Europe. From 2005 until 2008 he has been Independent Director at Terna S.p.A. and Pirelli & C. S.p.A. From 2000 he is Independent Director, Member of Audit and Risk Committee and Chairman of the Compensation Committee at Recordati S.p.A. From 2012 he is Independent Director and Investment Committee member at Quadrivio Capital SGR and Independent Director, member of Audit & Risk Committee and Compensation Committee at GE Capital Interbanca S.p.A. He has been a Trustee of the Johns Hopkins University of Baltimore and a Trustee of the Johns Hopkins School for Advanced International Studies (SAIS) in Bologna. From 1995 to 2006 he was President of the Università Bocconi Alumni Association and member of the Board of Directors of the Donna Javotte Bocconi Foundation (founding entity of the Universita Bocconi). He holds degree in Business Economics from Universita Commerciale Luigi Bocconi in 1960.
