As EV demand rises, battery costs go up

The price of EV battery cells and packs is expected to rise this year for the first time in decades, as demand for electric vehicles runs ahead of the industry's ability to secure adequate supplies of critical raw materials such as cobalt, nickel and lithium, and manufacturers scramble to secure future supplies.
