Akoustis Technologies, Inc. is a commercial product company. The Company operates through two segments: Foundry Fabrication Services and RF Filters. The Foundry Fabrication Services segment consists of engineering review services and STC-MEMS foundry services. The RF Filters segment consists of amplifier and filter product sales, and grant revenue. The Company is developing RF filters for fifth generation (5G), wireless fidelity (WiFi) and defense bands through its resonator device models and product design kits (PDKs). The Company is focused on developing, designing and manufacturing radio frequency (RF) filter solutions for the wireless industry for products, including smartphones and tablets, network infrastructure equipment, WiFi, Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) and defense applications. The Company has developed XBAW, which is a microelectromechanical system (MEMS) based bulk acoustic wave (BAW) technology and a manufacturing process flow.
