To a new patient centric healthcare ecosystem that brings a better quality of life for all

It’s time to make the data flow for better patient outcome and utilize the power of data to forge new, exciting collaborations

Author: Global Value Web

Healthcare systems around the world, whether in the US, Europe or India, are all in their current imperfect state. The power of digitization, combined with Global Value Web’s (GVW) view on a patient-centric lifesciences value chain, can accelerate the transformation toward a new elevated level of healthcare. GVW’s aim is to make reliable data more widely available for the good of everyone.

True digital healthcare transformation

We are all a patient at different stages of our life: that's what this is about. Upcoming possibilities of intelligent automation like AI, Generative AI, and Machine Learning, offer opportunities on the way to the holy grail of healthcare: the prevention of disease and personalized treatment from a holistic approach.

Crucial to getting there, is the availability and flow of data. This means on the one hand: opening up hundreds of millions of patient records from all over the world for new research. From first diagnosis, treatments, use of drug products, towards the recorded outcome for the patient. And on the other: full drug product data access within innovative companies, from the first test on molecule, through drug product development, production and distribution to the patient.

This digital transformation enables people across the value chain to better respond to people's needs and provide better outcomes for patients.

One data, one source, one science

Mr. Louis Hendriks is the founder & CEO of GVW, a leading digital services & solutions provider for science data and business data. Hendriks states: “Data is at the center of the future value and existence of companies in pharma, biosciences and healthcare. More shared data enables better patient outcome faster. Converging currently separate data streams to a single data stream as one source and one science. In healthcare a data stream around the patient, and in life sciences around the drug product. One source of truth for patients, one source of truth for drug products. And in the patient centric value chain, these two shall meet.”

To make this possible, GVW is an active promotor of the ISO health informatics standards (ISO TC 215), defining the digital structure of drug substances and drug products through the IDMP (Identification of Medicinal Products).

Hendriks adds: “For the ISO standards we are an active contributor in the areas of both western medicines (ISO TC 215 WG 6 IDMP) and traditional medicines (ISO TC 215 WG 10). Where the western medicines are already encapsulated in data, and where the traditional medicines are yet to be chartered.

Another example of our collaborative efforts is that on a regional level, for example India, we are partnering with Health Parliament to support the Patient Union initiative, giving a voice to patients. We also contribute to OHDSI, (Observational Health Data Sciences & Informatics, pronounced ‘Odyssey’) a global initiative to unlock hundreds if not billions of patient records for research. And where we demonstrate that secure data gathering, structuring, curation & analysis of patient data is possible when like-minded individuals and organizations come together. Together with JSS Aher from Mysore and J&J Innovative Medicines, GVW has formed the OHDSI India Chapter.”

Life sciences value chain data backbone

GVW’s vision for the underlaying technologies that enable the patient centric value chain, is a well-connected globally extended ‘information highway system’, that gathers, structures, curates, exchanges and analyzes data constantly.

GVW works with leading partners in healthcare, such as hospitals, diagnostic centers and doctors, as well as leading pharma 4.0 focused informatics companies. This combination of people, data, process and leading technologies contributes to the informatics architecture that drives and enables the digital flow of data. And finally: to get the data, organize, structure, curate, exchange and analyze it, this all is impossible without the right dedicated and informed people.

To share knowledge about data related subjects on patient data and drug product data, GVW works with Health Parliament as well as through the OHDSI India Chapter to organize activities with global speakers, linked to the global digital health summit in October 2024. Interested companies, hospitals and academics are invited to reach out to GVW for more information and updates.
