Any organization planning a business event in the world’s most exciting city is, quite simply, spoiled for choice.
Would you like to wow your guests with the views from one of the tallest towers in the world? Or share the serenity of a traditional Japanese garden? Perhaps your guests would like to tread the boards of a “noh” theater. Alternatively, share an unforgettable day at a racecourse or an aquarium, a beach or an ancient Zen temple, a theme park, or a cutting-edge art gallery.
Whatever your event, Tokyo has a venue that is a perfect match.
Reuters has recently conducted two Twitter polls of corporate decision-makers to determine the most popular venues for MICE events in Tokyo, and the results have been collated. These are the top five meeting destinations that they strongly recommend.
Tokyo Tower (37.6%) – Go sky-high over the city
The Tokyo Tower has dominated the city’s skyline since 1958 and offers unrivaled views of this mesmerizing metropolis. Eye-catching in its red-and-white colors, this broadcasting tower stands 333 meters high and is illuminated at night.
The Tokyo Tower can host a “party in the sky” at the Top Deck, which dazzles with geometric mirrors 250 meters above the ground, or at the newly opened Club 333, on the main observatory level at 150 meters. Both have 360-degree panoramas that are endlessly impressive, by day or night.
A well-known foreign importer selected the Tokyo Tower for a recent awards ceremony and incentive party. As well as staging a memorable in-person event, the venue was able to provide real-time streaming facilities for other members of the company around the world to take part in the gathering remotely.

Sumida Aquarium (30.1%)– Bask in Tokyo’s Water World
The vast pools and ocean-loving inhabitants of the Sumida Aquarium make an impressive and constantly moving backdrop to any event.
Part of the TOKYO SKYTREE TOWN complex, the aquarium has one of the largest indoor open tanks in Japan and is home to around 1,000 amazing sea creatures, including sharks, penguins, fur seals, jellyfish, and gleaming reef fish. The venue also has a unique exhibition zone with no fewer than 23 varieties of goldfish, which first became popular collectibles in the Japanese capital in the Edo period (1603-1867).
In the evening, after the crowds have gone, event attendees are able to immerse themselves in this peaceful yet stimulating world. Spread across nearly 2,000 square meters, the aquarium can host unforgettable customized events for as many as 300 people.

SMALL WORLDS TOKYO (29.4%) – Go big by going small!
The amazing SMALL WORLDS TOKYO is one of the largest indoor miniature theme parks in the world, spread over 8,000 square meters and recreating in meticulous detail a busy city, a space launch facility, and a bustling airport, among others.
The attention to detail that has gone into each of the models, down to the aircraft, buses, and scale replicas of people, is remarkable. Be sure to linger at each display to spot everything that is going on and admire the skill that went into creating these tiny worlds, as well as the use of technology that brings them to life. The entire venue is available as a distinctive space for MICE events for up to 200 guests, including the spacious restaurant area. Visitors are also able to enjoy welcome cocktails amidst the exhibits.
SMALL WORLDS TOKYO was among the venues that was highlighted in the Tokyo Unique Venue Showcase Event 2022 with a focus on dishes made from ingredients grown locally to promote the sustainable concept of “local production for local consumption.”

TOKYO SKYTREE TOWN (26.9%) – Japan’s tallest ‘tree’
Since opening in 2012, the TOKYO SKYTREE has become an unmissable landmark from virtually everywhere in the city. This impressive piece of architecture-combined-with-technology has breathtaking views across a vast swathe of eastern Japan and makes an unforgettable venue for a MICE event.
TOKYO SKYTREE TOWN is the commercial complex that surrounds the elegantly latticed spire, which at 634 meters is the tallest free-standing broadcasting tower in the world.
The venue has a number of facilities designed to host events, including the Dome Garden, which has a capacity of 240 guests, Space634, and the Farm Garden. Use of these unique venues can be combined with access to the TOKYO SKYTREE TEMBO DECK, with “tembo,” the Japanese term that translates as “looking to the sky.”
The TEMBO DECK is 450 meters above the streets of Tokyo and, on a clear day, offers stunning views of Mount Fuji – more than 100 km to the southwest and beyond. With mirrored walls and floor-to-ceiling windows, the sensation is of walking in the sky. For a party, it is unbeatable.

Tokyo International Cruise Terminal (23.7%) – Venue on the waterfront
The Tokyo International Cruise Terminal is the impressive gateway to the city for a new generation of passenger liners, but its waterfront location and superb facilities also make it perfect as a venue for a MICE event.
Only operational since 2020, the terminal building has event space sprawling across 19,000 square meters and four floors. The entire ultra-modern structure has been designed to permit flexibility, allowing internal spaces and layouts to be tailored to an organizer’s specific needs.
The outdoor deck area, overlooking the bustling Tokyo Bay, has proved particularly popular with event hosts, both during the daytime and after the sun has set.
The cruise terminal has successfully hosted a number of high-profile events, notably a promotion evening in 2021 for a fashion brand. The flexibility that is a key element of the facility was utilized to the fullest, with the “tiit tokyo SHOW 2021” taking place in the third-floor multipurpose hall.
