As global challenges continue to rise, solutions are gaining momentum, too.
"Partnerships play a super important role because I think we can contribute significantly, but we cannot do it alone."
Stephan Schnabel, CEO, HELM AG. Partnerships are within HELM AG's DNA to build such solutions on mutual reliability, fairness, and trust.

Partnerships between businesses and other organizations, including individuals, local communities, and start-ups are essential in combating climate change and building a better, more sustainable future for those living today and generations to come.

HELM AG is a family-owned international marketing and distribution company active in four business segments: chemical products, fertilizers, crop protection products, and pharmaceuticals. In addition, it offers services in logistics and project development, among others. It is one of Germany's 30 largest family-run companies and has been in business for over 120 years, benefitting from the advantages of the German family-owned type of business, such as better leverage for community building, social inclusiveness, and shorter decision-making.

At the heart of Vision 2045 is the focus on the role of businesses. To combat climate change, significant players must level the way, and everyone must pull together. Companies and enterprises play an important role in this.

“We really drive the uptake of methanol as a marine fuel because it offers immediate reductions and emissions and a commercially viable pathway to Net Zero shipping emissions.”

Jennifer Hoppe, Development Manager Marine Fuels, Proman AG, A valued long term partner of HELM AG

HELM AG's most recent initiatives involve sustainable agriculture and scaling up the production of eco-friendly fuels. These areas of sustainability are crucial in the fight against climate change as food insecurities develop and fossil fuels begin to deplete.

Digital agriculture is instrumental in reducing hunger and improving the sustainable use of precious natural resources under ever-changing conditions. The productivity of the global farming area needs to increase to feed the planet's growing population, also allowing smallholder communities to increase their yield. Resilience against climate-induced loss and damages is another digitally informed choice editing feature. Climate, soil, crop health, and nutrient availability need to be better understood to reduce unnecessary effort and input of material.

HELM AG is working with partners to develop a biological products platform, improving soil quality and boosting plant yields. As food supply is vulnerable and new ways of agriculture are imperative, HELM AG is devoted to contributing to safe, healthy, and sustainable yield management.

On another initiative, HELM AG is also supporting approaches to make the shipping logistics industry more efficient and climate-friendly. The partnership with the Swiss Proman AG goes back more than 20 years, and today the joint venture HELM Proman Methanol is actively promoting green methanol application. This alternative fuel offers immediate emission reductions and a commercially viable pathway to net zero shipping.

"Companies definitely have a social and environmental responsibility," Schnabel continued. "One key element throughout our history are our long-term partnerships. And if we accelerate this into the future, I think we will have a very positive impact on society."
