South Africa's power utility Eskom swings into loss

JOHANNESBURG, July 23 South Africa's state-run power utility Eskom reported on Monday a 2.3 billion rand ($171 million) loss for the 2017/18 financial year ending March, weighed down by increases in financing costs and depreciation.

UPDATE 1-Texas power use to keep hitting records during heat wave -ERCOT

July 20 Homes and businesses in Texas used record amounts of power for a second straight day on Thursday and are expected to use even more in coming days as consumers crank up air conditioners to escape a brutal heat wave, according to the operator of much of the state's power grid.
