Jan 01 - Taiwan rings in 2011 as the centennial of its founding with a celebration involving a mass wedding. Maryam Ishani reports.

Don't ask me -- Taiwan rings in the new year with some milestones. Crowds gathered outside Taipei's Presidential Palace on Saturday. To celebrate the self ruled island 100 anniversary. With a mass wedding. 100 couples participated in the early morning ceremony. Which included the raising of the national flag. Taiwan's president -- heralded the historic occasion. -- -- seen yet. Aside from the flag racing more important is the development of history. The whole world is celebrating the new year but for Taiwan. This is a milestone in history. Our country is 100. Years old.
