Anti-government protesters in Yemen continue their sit-in near the University of Sana'a. A series of political concessions by President Ali Abdullah Saleh have failed to deter demonstrators demanding his resignation. At the same time as this protest in the capital, tens of thousands of supporters of the ruling party held a rally in the city of Amran. These government loyalists are calling for security to be maintained and for all parties to return to talks. The pro and anti-government rallies come after Saturday's violent clashes- some of the fiercest since the unrest began in January. Four people died and hundreds were injured as violence erupted in at least five cities across Yemen. The United States said it was dismayed by the growing fatalities, warning that Yemen could suffer the same fate as Libya- where anti-government protests have spiralled into armed conflict between rebels and the government.
