-- floods tear through southwestern China. Killing at least fourteen people and leaving at least 35 missing. Rescue teams are working to clear debris left behind after a weekend of torrential rain hit the previously drought stricken region. Heavy rainfall across swathes of central and southern China have -- drought I consider China's worst in half a century. But relief appears to have come all at once and there's more rain in the forecast. Floodwaters that surged through eleven cities and counties have stranded some 3000 people. Destroyed around a hundred homes and forced at least 45000. Residents to flee. But other areas have welcomed the rains which have been a blessing for the major race growing provinces of Hubei and Hunan. The devastating dry spell it hit millions of hectares of farmland. Mainly along the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River. And the deluge comes is a double edged sword. Travis Sprecher Reuters.
