Some federal programs are escaping what were meant to be across-the-board spending cuts after lawmakers passed a final 2013 budget restoring funds to a select few. (March 22, 2013)

Congress has found a way to ease the sting of the -- Questar is sequestered that's a total of 85 dollars from federal defense and discretionary spending equally. But budget negotiators led by Barbara Mikulski and Hispanic. And representative Hal -- house managed to restore offset cuts to some treatment programs. When they completed the long -- 2013. Budget this week. Defense spending faces 42 billion dollars in cuts and that is sequester. Congress is restoring ten billion for operations and may. NASA faces 900 million dollars and sequester cuts. Lawmakers would add back 219 million poor planetary science like the Mars mission. It's sequester would cut 209 million dollars from the National Science Foundation. But the budget just finished by congress restores all but nine million. The National Institutes of Health faces one point 55 billion dollars in cuts but we'll get back 67 million reality. Most of the 85 billion dollars sequester remains fully in place and many agencies were out of luck when it came to restoring funds. For example congress did not find fifty million dollars.
