High-fives on the streets of Havana to welcome a significant change in US visa rules for Cuban citizens. Cubans have been lining up at the U.S. Interests Section in Havana to upgrade their visas after the U.S. government announced earlier this week that Cuban visitors can now apply for visas valid for five years - instead of the 6 months previously allowed. The new visas allow Cubans to make multiple visits to the U.S. over a five year period without having to reapply for an expensive visitor visa every 6 months. The US government says the move will enhance the free flow of information to and from Cuba and improve people-to-people contact. I want to at least see my children and grandchildren whenever I want, this woman said. I've got goosebumps. The Cuban government liberalized travel restrictions in January of this year allowing it's citizens to travel for 24 months at a time without losing their rights.
