Torrential rains trigger flash flooding in California and Arizona

Severe storms pummel the Southwest causing flash flooding and power outages. Linda So reports.

Torrential downpours in the Phoenix area caused a mess during the morning commute. Flash floods completely submerged cars prompting several water rescues. The heavy storms caused by the remnants of Hurricane Norbert hit Southern California on Sunday. At one point during the storm, officials say part of a freeway was under several feet of water. The heavy rains causing plenty of damage to cars and homes. SOUNDBITE: ANDY MARTINEZ, RIVERSIDE RESIDENT, SAYING: "We seen a lot of things happen, like a lot of trash passing by, and our trash can floating and throwing all the trash." The waters were so deep in some areas people went for a swim. Now they're waiting for the waters to recede so the cleanup can begin.
