It's Sri Lanka's first visit from a pope since civil war ended six years ago. The country has suffered from deadly fighting between religions, but the recent election of a new government has sparked hopes of peace. In his speech, Pope Francis appeared to support an inquiry into war crimes committed during the 26-year conflict. (SOUNDBITE) (English) POPE FRANCIS SAYING: "The process of healing also needs to include the pursuit of truth, not for the sake of opening old wounds, but rather as a necessary means of promoting justice, healing and unity." Thousands in Colombo lined up, high and low, to catch a glimpse of the head of the Catholic Church in his popemobile. (SOUNDBITE) (Sinhala) SALESMAN, SHEHAN FERNANDO SAYING: "I am so happy that a day like this has dawned, especially as a Catholic to be able to see our leader." The pope will be in Sri Lanka for two days before heading to the Philippines.
