Eleven service members presumed dead in Florida crash: officials

Some remains are found washed ashore near a Florida military base where seven Marines and four soldiers are presumed dead after a helicopter crash, U.S. military officials say. Jillian Kitchener reports.

Police are scouring the Florida coast for debris after a helicopter crashed with seven Marines and four soldiers on board. U.S. military officials say some remains have washed ashore near Eglin Air Force Base, and say the service members are presumed dead. It's sending shockwaves through the community: (SOUNDBITE) (English) RUSS CLAYTOR, SAYING: "My son's in special forces. But I talked to him this morning so, he's out in Savannah. He's at work." According to military officials, the crash happened close to the base 50 miles east of Pensacola, during a nighttime training mission. The fog in the area is affecting visibility, but a military spokeswoman says a "search and rescue mission" is still underway.
