ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION): STORY: French film in competition 'La Loi du Marche' by director Stephane Brize premiered at the Cannes film festival on Monday (May 18). Brize wanted to capture the reality of life in the piece and used handheld camerawork. Also, aside from the lead actor Vincent Landon, all the actors in the film were non-professionals. Lindon, who has received high praise among critics for his performance, has worked with Brize on three films. For this film, though, the pair worked more as partners. "We had an idea together and he wrote four pages and he said to me 'I'm going to bring you the pages and if you like them, I'm going to start 30 pages - the whole story but not with the dialogues, the whole story' and he said to me 'we are at the beginning of the story. Why don't we start to produce the movie but really like produce as in the word 'to produce' - 'produire' - do everything," said Lindon.
