In a speech to the Senate on Thursday morning, Minority Leader Harry Reid condemned Wednesday night's deadly shootings in Charleston, calling the attack the ''ultimate act of cowardice and hatred''. Rough Cut (no reporter narration).

ROUGH CUT (No reporter narration) STORY: Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid has offered his condolences to the families of those killed in Wednesday's church shootings in Charleston, South Carolina. Charleston police were searching for a white gunman who killed nine people in a historic African-American church including the pastor, a black state senator, in an attack the U.S. Department of Justice called a hate crime. In a speech on the Senate floor Thursday morning, Reid call the shootings the "ultimate act of cowardice and hatred". "On behalf of the Senate family, we send out support, our sympathy the the Charleston law enforcement as they try to capture this murderer", Reid said. "I hope the perpetrator will be swiftly apprehended and brought to justice."
