On a countertop in an Istanbul cafe, this barista is serving up some crystal blue... no, not crystal blue methamphetamine... but blue rock candy. It's one of several treats served here at "Walter's Coffee Roastery," a "coffee lab" inspired by the American TV series, "Breaking Bad". Deniz Kosan is the owner. (SOUNDBITE) (English) OWNER OF WALTER'S COFFEE ROASTERY, DENIZ KOSAN, SAYING: "I came up with the idea because my cousin looks like the main character of the TV show and it was actually just a joke between us and it became reality." The show -- starring Bryan Cranston -- tells the story of Walter White, a chemistry teacher diagnosed with cancer who turns to cooking methamphetamine to pay his bills and leave money for his family. Just like the show, the cafe takes on a lab-like environment... with chemistry beakers and even hazmat suits and gas masks. Customers are getting a caffeinated kick out of the cafe's similarities to the show. (SOUNDBITE) (English) CUSTOMER OF WALTER'S COFFEE ROASTERY, FERHAD, SAYING: "It's great I think, it's not gimmicky, so it doesn't feel like it's a gimmick of the show. It feels quite authentic." (SOUNDBITE) (Turkish) CUSTOMER OF WALTER'S COFFEE ROASTERY, IREM AKBAY, SAYING: "The atmosphere is really beautiful. The things we see in the show came to reality here and it's really exciting to be part of it." And they don't have to 'break bad' to enjoy these products either.
