Japanese photographer Masayoshi Sukita shares dozens of his pictures spanning Bowie's dazzling, colorful career. Sukita began photographing Bowie after seeing him in concert in 1972. SOUNDBITE: Masayoshi Sukita, photographer, saying (Japanese): "After I saw the concert with David Bowie and Lou Reed, which I really enjoyed I showed David my portfolio work. He gave me the opportunity to shoot him. It was before he started wearing makeup on his face. He didn't look extraordinary. He had movement training from Lindsay Kemp. I felt the movement was very special. We had a translator only in the beginning. I was able to say simple sentence like, 'please sit here,' or 'please stand here.' Once the shooting started he already knew what to do on the set. It doesn't matter if it's portrait or snapshot, what I like about photography is observation." After his show in New York, Sukita's exhibition will head to Japan, then onto Italy.
