Fishermen in Gaza can cast their nets a little farther -- On Sunday, Israel extended the fishing zone along Gaza's central and southern shores from six nautical miles to nine. The change will allow the boats to go into deeper water where there are more fish, and this fisherman is celebrating. (SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) FISHERMAN, MOHAMMAD MIQDAD, SAYING: "This is the best news we have heard. We have children to feed. Thanks be to God. We hope they expand it more." Israel maintains a naval blockade of Gaza, and says that the zone in areas near the Israeli border will not be expanded because of security concerns. But the head of the Gaza fishermen's union says even nine miles is not enough. The interim Oslo peace accords call for a 20 nautical mile limit, according to Nizar Ayyash. (SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) CHAIRMAN OF THE GAZA FISHERMEN'S UNION, NIZAR AYYASH, SAYING: "There are 4,000 fishermen and around a thousand boats in the Gaza Strip that will be fishing in this area." Even if the space isn't what these fishermen hope for, they're hoping that their boats-and their pockets-will soon be a little fuller
