The polls opened at 7 a.m. local time, with thousands of Wisconsin voters arriving early to cast their ballot. The Wisconsin primary is shaping up to be a crucial election for the candidates from both parties. For the Republicans, leading candidate Donald Trump appears to be in the unusal position of underdog, with polls showing him behind main rival Ted Cruz. The senator from Texas is trying to make the case he's the best choice left for Republicans who will not vote for the New York billionaire. For the Democrats, Senator Bernie Sanders is trying to add to his momentum after winning five of the last six contests. He holds a slight lead over Hillary Clinton in the state but faces a tough task in earning the delegates necessary to win the nomination outright. Polls will close in Wisconsin at 8 p.m. local time.
