Security sources say three Islamic State militants set off explosive vests, sending thick smoke billowing into the sky above the Bai Hassan oil station in northwest Kirkuk. Their assault on the facility was among two on Sunday. The first attack targeted a gas compressor station in Kirkuk. Officials say four gunmen shot dead four employees and set off multiple explosives. That's when officials say the attackers escaped to Bai Hassan. The attack drew dozens of Kurdish peshmerga forces. (SOUNDBITE) (Kurdish) HEAD OF INTELLIGENCE, 4TH BATTALION, 10TH INFANTRY BRIGADE, MAJOR ISMAIL HIRKI, SAYING: "We clashed with the attackers and we saw one of them setting off his explosive belt, setting off the fire you see at the oil facilities." Sources say an oil engineer was killed and six policemen were wounded. A fourth assailant was killed in clashes. The attack forced the suspension of activity at the facility, which pumps 55,000 barrels per day.
