Cowboy boots among Reagan items up for auction

Personal items that once belonged to former U.S. President Ronald Reagan and his wife First Lady Nancy Reagan are up for auction. Gavino Garay reports.

Cowboy boots made for actor turned 40th President president of the United States, Ronald Reagan, are up for auction at Christie's in New York Furniture, dining sets and jewelry are also among the 700 lots belonging to former President Reagan and First Lady Nancy Reagan that will be put on the auction block. The collection offers a private look into a very public life, says Christie's Deputy Chairman, Jonathan Rendell. (SOUNDBITE) (English) JONATHAN RENDELL, DEPUTY CHAIRMAN, CHRISTIE'S AMERICAS, SAYING: "These are the things that the Reagans lived with in Bel Air, owned, enjoyed. A lot of the things on sale went with them from California to the White House and then came home again." Expected to sell for up to $20,000 is a chunk of the Berlin Wall. Christie's Rendell puts the sale in the context of modern history. (SOUNDBITE) (English) JONATHAN RENDELL, DEPUTY CHAIRMAN, CHRISTIE'S AMERICAS, SAYING: "I just think that it's important to look at this as a part of recent, American history. These are objects that witnessed history. They lived in the White House. They've seen a bit of America and I think it's great that they are going on to other people." The auction is expected to fetch more than two million dollars, with the money going to The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation.
