Meet the "Snow Buddies." Armed with shovels and salts, these volunteers are helping Virginia Beach residents dig out. After 10 inches of snow dropped in the area, nonprofit Operation Blessing called on these snow buddies to lend a helping hand to the area's sick, elderly, disabled and anyone else in need of assistance. Operation Blessing Vice President Jody Getty says people's health can't be put on hold due to snow. (SOUNDBITE) (English) JODY GETTY, VICE PRESIDENT OF OPERATION BLESSING, SAYING: "Residents still need to get out and go to kidney dialysis. They need to go to cancer treatment centers. People need to go out and get food because many of these elderly people are on a fixed income. So I'd say it's life preserving the volunteering efforts that are happening today." Preserving life... just by volunteering to shovel some snow.
