ROUGH CUT. NO REPORTER NARRATION. 'Migration Blues', a new album from veteran bluesman Eric Bibb, uses the sounds of the American South to tell the tale of everyone from 1920s farmers fleeing the Dust Bowl for California to refugees crossing the Mediterranean to Europe today. Bibb currently lives in Sweden, having moved to Europe from America in 1970. He says he is a migrant and explained to Reuters he made his latest record "...Because of the current refugee crisis around the world... the whole issue of people on the move is close to my experience.' He was speaking ahead of a performance at Podium De Flux in The Netherlands last Friday (March 24), where he performed several tracks from his new album including the record opener 'Refugee Moan'. Bibb explained he wanted his album to reflect the numerous times throughout history when people have been on the move. "I wanted people to know that basically this is not something that is exclusive to people from Africa or the Middle East. These days, the people making the news, are people from Syria, people from West Africa trying to get to Europe. This is something that affects everybody." He said, "Swedes have migrated in large numbers, Irish people have migrated in large numbers, Eastern Europeans have migrated in large numbers. So, really, we are all in the same boat.'' 'Migration Blues' is set to be released on March 31st.
