British Foreign Minister Boris Johnson told parliament that Britain's relationship with the United States has not been damaged following claims that it helped eavesdrop on U.S. President Donald Trump. Rough Cut (no reporter narration)

ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) Britain's relationship with the United States has not been harmed by unproven claims made on a U.S. television station that it helped eavesdrop on Donald Trump, foreign minister Boris Johnson said on Tuesday (March 28). "It has certainly done no lasting damage to our relationship, certainly not to the special relationship, and certainly not to intelligence sharing, which of course will carry on between our countries," Johnson told the UK parliament. Earlier this month, Britain's GCHQ intelligence agency dismissed the allegations, made by Fox News analyst Andrew Napolitano, as "utterly ridiculous". Trump, who became president in January, tweeted earlier this month that his Democratic predecessor Barack Obama had wiretapped him during the late stages of the 2016 campaign. The Republican president offered no evidence for the allegation, which an Obama spokesman said was "simply false".
