ROUGH CUT. NO REPORTER NARRATION British Prime Minister Theresa May defended the UK's foreign policy during a visit to Jordan on Tuesday (April 4), saying maintaining links in the Middle East was important for trade and security. May defended the UK's ongoing support for Saudi Arabia, despite criticism of the military campaign it has waged in Yemen, and said a good Brexit deal for Britain will be good for the rest of Europe. "I've been very clear that I want to get the best deal possible for the UK from these negotiations with the European Union," May said during her visit to Amman. "I think that would be a good deal for the EU, that's what the EU themselves have said, that they want to get a good deal and a good future relationship with us." "If you look at the origin of what happened, this was about action being taken because there were those who were trying to overthrow a government in the Yemen," she added. "We are concerned about the humanitarian situation, that's why the UK last year was the fourth largest donor to the Yemen in terms of humanitarian aid." May is also due to travel to Saudi Arabia on Tuesday.
