The first freight train to run from Britain to China left on Monday, carrying vitamins, baby products and other goods as Britain seeks to burnish its global trading credentials for when it leaves the European Union. Rough Cut (no reporter narration).

The first freight train to run from Britain to China departed on Monday (April 10), carrying vitamins, baby products and other goods as Britain seeks to burnish tis global trading credentials for when it leaves the European Union. Departing from the DP World London Gateway depot in Essex, the train will pass through the Channel Tunnel and then seven countries - France, Belgium, Germany, Poland, Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan - before arriving in Yiwu, China. The 7,500-mile journey is expected to take three weeks, about half the time needed for the equivalent journey by boat. Britain is seeking to enhance its trade ties with the rest of the world as it prepares to leave the European Union in two years' time.
